Bolt jeweling
Bolt jeweling
I am interested in getting my HO10 bolt jeweled. Does any one on here know anyone reputable?

I don't, but is this for cosmetics or function?
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Re: Bolt jeweling
My understanding of getting a bolt jeweled is that it is functional in that it holds lubricant a little better and looks fancy, too. I think it's also been used to cover up/remove slight pitting, etc. in restorations. I've never had it done, but considered it on a Mauser project I did, and an old sporterized Swedish Mauser carbine I acquired came with the bolt jeweled. It's basic gunsmith work, any good smith should be able to do it.

Re: Bolt jeweling
You could do it yourself, but it is extremely time consuming and risky, here is an interesting thread.

How would this seem to H.R.A. if the rifle ever has to go in for repair work?
Re: Bolt jeweling
Well, i emailed them. They said it will have zero effect on the warranty.

Don't know if you've already found a source.
I've used Baldwin Jeweling (https://www.baldwinboltjeweling.com/home.html) for a number of bolts including my BB 357. Great work, reasonable price, fast turnaround.

Never owned one, but it does look nice, & I can see the lube thing.
