Rimfire ruckus at the saloon !

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Feb 06, 2021 8:26 pm

Got down to my range today and found this gang that had taken over the Bullseye Saloon. All I had with me was my new Cattleman .22 revolver and glad it was a 12 shooter! Took care of those bad ol' 2 liters and had the spray going everywhere  https://youtu.be/sRYtqfXqYVA

The Uberti Cattleman 12 shooter right out the box was shooting great with the fixed sights right on the money shooting Federal Auto Match ammo from a close in 20 ft. or combat range one hand shooting from standing position. Was later hitting the gong from 45 yds. Shot 60 rounds thru it with no issues. That target picture had 7 shots on it with 2 going thru the ragged hole. My only issue today was calling a spade a club!

Had been thinking of getting another 22 shooter and a 12 shot revolver serves well since I have run out of rifle storage room.
Build quality is really nice and trigger pull is great!

Al... does yours have that floating firing pin safety? Mine has it and when you pull the hammer back I feel a drag or slight hang up as the hammer just breaks free but then fine after that. Not as smooth as my other Uberti built SA revolvers.
I'm going to remove the hammer today and see about shimming the firing pin into the locked firing position and removing the extra linkage.

Taylors and Co. has a hammer and trigger kit to convert the Cattleman back to it's old setup without the safety but don't know if it will work on the 12 shot version. Will call and find out. The kit puts the 4 click Colt action back in it as well.

Thanks guys for tuning in to the Range review! It shoots well and hits where you point it. If I miss with it it's me.
Was really soggy in places around my target areas due to all the rain and snow showers and rest of week more of same. Going to fix that problem if and when things dry out this year.

Forty I cant tell you for sure I have had mine for a couple of years. I would need to look at it when I get home. Was it made without one for a while?

Did a little research Forty mines probably the same as yours. They first came out in 2018.

That Billy Bones target made me laugh out loud. Love the ceegar in his teeth. :D

I used to have a 10 shot S&W M/617. Loved the revolver but it seems like it used to take me a week to clean it with all those little holes. Your 12 shooter would just add another day or two to that.

Thanks for putting a stop to all that ruckus at the saloon!!!

Heres a thought and what I do Hatch. Get a pint ball jar. Hoppes #9 buy the bigger bottle if you use it regular and fill it full enough that it will cover the cylinder. Take the cylinder out of the gun drop it in the jar let it soak. I usually let it soak overnight. It speeds that process up and makes cleaning the cylinder a snap.

Yeah starting around that time Uberti was moving toward that type hammer safety for all the 1873 type revolvers. However some Cimarron revolvers I think the model "P" still were like the original Colt with no safety. The Cimarron Evil Roy .357 I bought last year was still the old style and I made sure of that before ordering. You had to get it thru Evil Roy's shop.

After 60 rounds or so the cylinder wasn't that dirty. Cleaned up quick with Ballistol and a few patches. I'm going to post the revolver work over in the Handgun section as I go along.

Nice shooting there Forty! Looks like you taught those bad guys a lesson. I don't thing they will be messin with you again.

I like the looks of that Cattleman. That color case hardening on the frame always make for a good looking gun. Good luck and have more fun with it.
