Too much fun

Post by Panfisher » Tue Feb 02, 2021 7:24 pm

My new Henry Big Boy Steel Carbine is too much fun. It still hasn't seen a paper target but soon I will have to break down and shoot at paper. So far a basic reload if 6 grain of Universal and a 158 grain cat bullet is proving to be a hoot to shoot, soft and old metal swinger targets go ding. DI'd also make up a couple 180 grain WFNGC bullets very 13 grains of H110, nice authoritative load, I really liked it, and finally tonight I loaded up a few 125 grain Sperry bullets I had on hand with 12 grains of HS7, was expecting a quiet little popper but it had quite a bit of zip, still super easy to shoot, my wife used it to kill a vicious paint can that had taken up residence on a fence post. I could easily shoot myself right out of supplies so I will have to restrict myself for a while. Bummer.

Yep...you can't just put it down after a few shots!

Oh, I've found that 6.0gr Universal/158gr rnfp bullet is mighty accurate! Panfisher, you have any 180's? We have a load for you.

Pan, several of us hear shoot a load of 2400, it varies just a little between us.
Mine is 11.4 grs, think Forties rifle and a couple others likes 11.5, seems I may have even seen one another 10th higher.
But there seems to be a sweet spot right in there.
YMMV

Well Dang it, I don't have any 2400 and the way things are looking it will be a while before I see any.

Understand that completely, things the same everywhere.
I have some H110, I might compare your load to mine.
Just for giggles.
