357 sidegate

I don't have a tracking number, I am just waiting.

I would check my favorite online shop about 10 times a day and they had them in stock for about 8-10 minutes. As soon as I bought and paid, they listed them as out of stock again. Don't know if they got just a few or they sold like hotcakes!

I was on their "Notify me when in stock" list, but that never works as by the time I get the email, they are long gone.

Received my tracking# today. I will wait patiently knowing everyone is working like dogs to move stuff this time of year. I also use a one man FFL who is only open Thu-Sat from 12-5 for pickup. Patience is a virtue right?

Yes, but not a cowboy pistol. I have a 1998 S&W 686+. Used to have Blackhawk, but I traded it to my Dad years a go.

I have a S&W Model 66 no dash and it is a nice smooth shooter. Here's my .357 Henry combo revolver the Cimarron Evil Roy.

I ordered the rifle initially because of the extra capacity and a little more accuracy. It arrived damaged and at the same time the new side gates came out. So I asked if I could swap it to the side gate carbine model and they did. I changed my mind to the carbine because with the side gate I can always top off the magazine. In my hands, I doubt there’s not much difference in accuracy between the two. My Carbine is very accurate and little lighter. I still like the rifle, you can’t go wrong with either.

Just my 2 cents worth but back a few years ago I had Marlin’s in handgun calibers and I didn’t like loading with the side gate. The shorter cartridges caused me to chew up my thumb loading the mag. Rifle length cartridges are much easier to load. In my opinion the best feature of the Big Boys is the ability to be loaded via the tube. Of course as long as Henry gives us both options on our Big Boys we’re the big winners here.!

I think to much is made of having a sidegate. I used a Marlin 38-55 to hunt with a couple years ago and it was a pain to unload at the end of the day. Having the tube function would have been much easier. Henry has done a good job giving people both. I have a sidegate in 38-55. Guess how I load it when I use it. Havent been in any battles yet where I need to top it off with the sidegate either.

Agreed! I think it's overrated but know a large chunk of the market will simply NEVER buy a lever gun without one. They nailed it by having both. If you don't like one or the other, just ignore it. Problem solved!

I simply want both options. Not expecting to top off in a battle but would like the option of adding shells with a side gate if I want to. Have shot 39As most of my life and I am quite familiar with the tube. Having both options available is a bonus.

Absolutely Ernie. If my rifle had the side gate, I wouldn't mind it being there, even if I never used it. Just don't miss NOT having it.

It has been 4 months since I placed my order and paid for a 357 carbine and I am getting frustrated. I emailed Henry asking about the availability and the answer is just be patient. I don't have the patience of RR and I hope I don't have to wait for a year.

frustration understood .... they must be under a serious demand to take so long .... it won't help but based on the performance of ours, yours will be well worth the wait
