I was on GunBroker to see what Marlins are bringing. I saw a 983 22 Mag with the walnut wood and the nice checkering NIB from 2004 sold Nov. 29 for:
Get ready! $1925. Well I guess he couldn't pass it up because it was NIB and had the box with it.
Then I saw a 336C with the 3-9x32 scope package model that was a MR serial number so it was a Remington built rifle and it sold for $1801 NIB. I need to list all my 39A's and the 336 Zane Gray. I should also list my 336Y that was only made two years with the walnut wood. It has the 16 1/4" barrel. Looks to be a sellers market right now to cash in on a nice profit.

Yes, I have seen that many firearms regardless if new or used are commanding some high prices these days.

I cant believe someone would pay that much for a Remington built Marlin. I have one of those in 357 Stainless maybe I should list it and see what she brings.

Well if caliber counts, I've probably got the biggest bore handgun anyone will see. It's only a single shot, but with a 25.4mm bore you only need one.

There is a 45-70 SBL stainless black laminated on there now slightly used that is at $2425 and is not finished yet. Has the serial number on the left side but not clear on the picture. Possibly Remington built. Any one want a 336W hard wood stocked 30-30 that is only up to $1500 so far.

fortyshooter, I believe yours would bring some pretty good money at this time.

Its crazy right now. When the market gets back down to "normal" it will be inundated with unfired pistols, rifles and shotguns people panic purchased. Holdout for long enough and it'll be a buyers market again.

Sell what you want now and make some cash, buy it back when market goes back down.

I had thought of selling it and get a Henry CCH/side gate .45-70. However I prefer the shorter16.5-18.5 barrel and Henry doesn't make it in Carbine form. Another thing why did Henry keep the short 4 round tube on the longer rifle?
Another thought...send my 45-70 down to Bobby Tyler and have him do the CCH and blue the barrel since he can do the trick to stainless.

The CCH would be very interesting on your 45-70. It would make a great looking Carbine that would get a lot of attention. Go for it!

A NIB Zane Gray would be a nice addition to any collection. I hunt with mine occasionally on dry weather days. Carry it for varmints sometimes. It still has no marks on it or none of the surface rust common on lever rifles that get hunted with. The 130 gr. Speer hand loads are bad news on porcupines and fox in the winter when we get snow. My wife and I made a sling for it from a muzzle loader strap on sling so I didn't have to drill a hole in my stock.
Put a mag tube band on to hook the quick detach swivel on.We added some holes to the sling to use extra rawhide to keep the free ends from being in the way and flapping around freely.

Now your'e talking. They were made to be shot. The thing is now days gun prices are crazy and some body might throw a crazy price out at you for a unfired one that you couldn't turn down the money. I remember my wife and I buying some like new or some brand new 39A Marlins and people questioning us on why we would shoot them. Some times I would say "we shoot them because they have firing pins in them and the barrel isn't welded shut". Here is two we have that friends really thought we had lost it because we shot them as soon as we got them. The 39 AWL in front belongs to my wife and the 1897 Century Limited in the rear is mine. I like the half round/half octagon barrels on these two Marlins. Williams peeps on both. The flash showed on the gold squirrels and the gold fox and made for a bad picture.

Thanks BigAl and fortyshooter for the kind comments about our Marlins. My wife and I have really thinned them down in the last two years and made room and got the money from the Marlins and invested it back in to the 452 CZ Grand Finales and Remington 540X and 540 XR 22 rifles. My wife loves
the light (8 oz.) triggers on the bolt rifles after I can get them adjusted down for her and now she is spoiled. She still likes the lever rifles to shoot occasionally. She hates the lever actions shooting off sand bags. She says "there is to much to do with the lever actions". "Almost like driving a stick shift car again".
