...I spilled my powder trickler full of the H4895 I drove 100 miles round trip to buy.

Ouch! I do hope you recovered the spilled powder. The Lyman trickler that I use is heavily weighted at the bottom and luckily doesn't require a step up to reach over the scale and powder pan. I could be wrong, but yours seems to sit high enough that you wouldn't need to set it on that box, either.

A weighted base would be nice, I wonder if the current Lyman still has the weighted base. No, my RCBS won’t clear the scale pan but I’m willing to invest in a Lyman if it will both be tall enough and have the weighted base you mentioned. I did recover most of the spilled powder but when it spilled the quote from the Crown print ad immediately popped into my mind. I’ve loaded several thousand cartridges with that set up and never had a spill. That is not until powder became scarce. i really need to invest in a RCBS Chargemaster dispenser/scale combo one of these days. My method is pretty slow, I use a Uniflow measure to throw a charge a few tenth’s light and trickle up to the desired weight. Only for rifle cartridges that I care about accuracy. For handgun and .223 AR ammo I use a Lee turret press with the Lee auto disc measure.

Its alot of fun Tom. I like shooting steel with the muzzleloaders as much as centerfire its at a much slower pace.

Thanks for the link. I opened it up earlier yesterday and saw Amazon had three on hand. Since I am making a trip today for powder and other stuff I thought I would check the store for the Lyman trickler. Went back into Amazon a few hours to confirm the price and they were down to one. So I ordered it as I wasn’t sure the store I’m going to stocks Lyman products.

I got to thinking that I bought my RCBS in the 80’s sometime when all we had were balance beam scales. My trickler worked fine with my old 505 scale but when I upgraded to the current electronic scale I found the trickler was too short. Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer I didn’t even think that tricklers have been updated to use with these new scales. Duh!

I did manage to “old school” trickle 154 7.62x51 cartridges and they are all ready for action!

I have one of these and love it Hatch. But the price has gone up quite a bit. I didnt pay even close to that for mine and I know they can be bought on sale quite a bit cheaper.

That Chargemaster is on my list to get. I bought one of the Lymans a couple of years ago and it wasn’t very accurate so I took it back to the shop where I bought it. After returning it I read that fluorescent lights can affect these units and I have two fluorescent lights in my reloading room. Good chance my results with the Lyman were skewed. The Lite is considerably less expensive but doesn’t appear to have a scale, just the dispenser. On a local forum a member just bought the Chargemaster from Natchez for 299.00 and that’s tempting.

After seeing forty and his helper earlier, I went back out to the shop and prepped 50 more .45 Colt cases. Finish those tomorrow. Beer time!

Craftsman toolboxes were on sale today at Lowes. I looked them over and went home to the shop and decided I could use one at the reloading bench I am setting up.

So I went back and brought this one home. Both boxes cost me $408. My sister told me I have to call her before I buy anything else because she has a new set that she would have given me. I told her I don't have a problem with that and I can pick up hers tomorrow.

Dang it Ernie, between you and Sir Henry and your good looking Craftsman tool chests in your reloading/hobby rooms I’m going to have to jump on board. I have an old clothes dresser with the drawers stuffed with reloading and shooting stuff and hand tools that need better organizing. This is the perfect solution.

I’ll be happy to stop by you’re sister’s place and help her out.

My "Loading Zone" Finished up some 45 Colt loads and may go on to .44 Mag. That credenza along the wall has lots of storage space in the bottom where I keep clean brass and bullets.

Dang forty, that is a nice looking loading room! Looks comfy. Really like that set-up.
