Range Report: comedy of errors

Post by Sir Henry » Thu Oct 15, 2020 3:35 pm

I just returned from the range after only shooting for 15 minutes. I zeroed the rifle at the first berm at about ten yards by shooting at bits of clay. It only took three shots to get close enough to shoot at paper at 25 yards. It could have used another adjustment but I never goat that far.

My glasses broke and even though my shooting eye lens was still in tact I felt naked with no eye protection.

When I shoot I pull the rifle into my shoulder with the hand holding the forearm. The problem was when I shot that backward pull cycled the action. It kept surprising me. Then I dropped a full box of ammo and had to pick them up and wipe them off.

It just wasn’t my day and I didn’t get a single round in the 10 circle which on these 50 yard targets would have been the kill zone for a squirrel. I was using 50 yard targets at 25 yards so my shooting was even worse than it appears.

The good news is the firearm performed perfectly with no jams or ejection problems.

In the end the score was Gene 0 and squirrels 10.

On days like that you just need to reset and start over tomorrow.
