AK 47 Range Time

Post by dasmoeturhead » Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:20 pm

Did some plinking with my AK 47 Pistol today. I just love shooting this thing.
I used my bench today, but I was just using the magazine, and the pistol grip for support. I call that a weak bench rest. Anyway I put 4 rounds in 2 holes, with one flyer. This is only 20 yards out. At 30 yards off hand I was hitting the canisters with no problem
The rest of time I held the same position. It shoots well, and it can be very accurate if you hold study. Here are some pictures. Notice how ugly the FMJ's are just going into the dirt backstop. I would not want to be hit with this Russian ammo. Nasty stuff.

It's that White box Red Army 122 gr fmj, steel case stuff. It's not real consistent. I've had a few rounds sound, and feel different. It's accurate enough for me. If the mutant kitchen canisters ever attack, I'm good with this AK. LOL!

I've heard that Bear ammo is pretty good.

Range day today. I just got the steel Bulgarian 30 round magazines I ordered for the AK-47. Yesterday I cleaned all of the oil off of them, and made sure they all engaged, and released ok. Today I will give them the real test by shooting live on the range. Can't wait. These are supposed to be some of the best magazines out there. I like the feel of steel better than plastic.

Yesterday's backyard range time. My youngest Boy had never shot a 1911 45 acp. Using hand loads off hand at 20 yards.
With some practice he might out shoot me.
I shot my AK-47 Pistol off hand at 45 yards at the new steel target. No im not Wild Bill, but I was real happy.

Should have seen the smile on my face when I shot that plate, and it kept making a nice dull ting sound. Im still smiling. Good times.
Now I've got to buy an AK sight tool to make make a correction to the left.

It was HENRY Time at the range today. 50 rounds punishing the gong. Love that sound. The Silverboy never skipped a beat. Dang it was hot out though.

No pictures, because it hardly even happened, but after changing the handguard and grip on my AK 47 I took it to my range a shot off 11 rounds at the gong at 45 yards and it all worked out fine. I also installed a m-lock quick detachable sling swivel, and the m-loc fastener to the new magpul handguard. That was a mouthful.
Cheers
