Mismatched barrel and receiver on new Henry

Post by Legiolancer » Fri Jul 10, 2020 11:32 pm

I recently ordered a henry long ranger silver deluxe in 223/556. However, when the gun arrived I discovered that while the receiver, with the model number, was indeed a H014D-223, the barrel and magazine were marked for 243 win. The Barrel is bigger than 223 and the magazine is not compatible with 223, so I believe it is not just a mismarking on the barrel. I honestly think the factory somehow put a 243 barrel on a 223 receiver and it somehow got through QAQC. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening before? How does such a mistake happen?

Sounds like a shipment back to Henry is in order. Yeah, that's a huge screw up.

Henry needs to be aware of it. I wonder if there are others?

I think I would keep it. It may have some collector value. I would send Henry CS a photo or 2 to show them. See what they have to say. Might get a free 223. LOL.
