What did you do at your reloading bench today?

What do you use to trim your 45-70 brass? I have a Worlds Perfect Trimmer for all my bottleneck cartridges but nothing for my straight wall 45-70.

For 45-70 I use an LE Wilson case trimmer. Extremely hearty and well made.

LE Wilson is heavy duty and easy to use. I got the attachment to use an electriv drill as opposed to the crank. I sued it for all of my brass, all calibers until I bought the Lyman Brass Smith for my shoulder brass. (45-70 will not work in the Lyman)

The Wilson is well worth the money in my humble opinion.

I use a Forster Cam-Lok trimmer. Best I've used . Easy to set up, uses Hornady shell holders. Check it out, I think you'll see what I
mean. I had ( well, still have ), a Wilson trimmer, but like the Hornady much better, works better. Also, whatever trimmer you get, you're going to need to get the RCBS "Large" chamfer/deburr tool. Standard size won't work.

this morning I decided to load 100 full power 44 Mags for use in our Henry .... when I went out to setup our portable reloading station it turned out to be way too hot, too humid and too windy .... as an alternative, I decided to stay inside and use our Lee hand press .... that is something I haven't done since the late 60's .. .. doing so quickly reminded me of why I bought a RCBS Rock Cruncher .... it took a while but I completed loading 100 rounds using CCI Large Pistol Magnum Primers, 23.8 g of W296, and 240 gr Nosler JSP bullets .... well before I finished using a Lee crimping die as the last step on the final round, I'd made up my mind to wait out the weather the next time I decide to make some bullets ..

Well, weather was cool today, 95 12% humidity, so I set up a 270 range and worked the black guns.

my first reloading system was a Lee Loader that was purchased back in the mid 60's https://leeprecision.com/lee-loader-357-mag.html .... it worked but the occasional detonation using a hammer to insert a primer motivated me to look for a replacement system .... the Lee Hand Press proved to be a system I could afford .... it most certainly can produce high quality ammo but using it for mass production can be tedious .... from my experience, it excels serving as a highly portable press used to produce a few rounds at a time .... example : when developing a new load at a range .... take empty brass that is ready to add powder and seat a bullet .... have that die in the Lee Hand Press load a few test rounds .... its simple to adjust powder charges and even bullets as you test various combinations .... as noted above, it can be used to produce a large number of bullets but it is far from the best choice to do so

I too had(still have, actually) a Lee Loader for my 30-30. Using that hammer thingy for primers got me thinking of a press mighty fast. Bought a RCBS Rock Chukar in '77-78.
