100 yd 22
At the range today with I was looking for sight adjustments for my Frontier with the Williams sight. I already have the ammo choice for 40 and 50yds for the silhouette match and was trying to find if CCI standard velocity would shoot the best at 75 and a 100. I was surprised when the Aguilla high velocity shot better at a 100 than than the CCI"s. The range started to get crowded and I forgot my spotting scope so I'll have to go back and check it out at 75yds. I will probably make a better target as the one I was using I couldn't align the sights horizontally as well as I should. My groups were about 2" high and 3.5 wide. I like my .357 bb but I am falling in love with this Frontier.

Re: 100 yd 22
looking forward to your further reports .... I'm a bit surprised at the performance of you CCI's
Re: 100 yd 22
Can you be more specific on the type of Aguila ammunition you were using?
Re: 100 yd 22
.
I would expect the Aguilla high velocity to shoot better than CCI Standard. A better comparison would be between the Aguilla high velocity and CCI Mini-Mag .22 LR.

Re: 100 yd 22
CCI standard velocity gave me the best groups at 50yds but for some reason the Aguilla super extra high velocity gave me slightly better groups at a100. Doesn't make any sense to me but I shot several groups with the same results. Not much wind this morning so I don't think that was a factor.

Re: 100 yd 22
I have a few bricks of those Aguila .22 "Super Extra High Velocity", 40gr rounds. They shoot very well in my 39A and Marlin 25N rifles. At paper, 50 yards, at those orange clay pidgeons, 80-100 yards, pieces!! Good ammo.
Re: 100 yd 22
Those orange clays are the only fun targets that they allow at the range I go to. If I could only get them to clang.

In Lever Action Silhouette I try to keep my bullets on one side of sonic speed or the other.
Standard velosity 22lr loose their sonic speed some where out past 50 meters.
Match ammo is usually sub-sonic.
From my Glenfield 60, (leagal in smallbore due to its tube mag) I've been shooting the CCI Suppressor ammo, 45gr pill at 950fps mv.
Solid knock down on the 100 meter rams.
