What did you do at your reloading bench today?

45 calliber RCBS bullet puller collet due to arrive today from Midway ..... I've used this bullet puller since the 70's and it cam be the most frustrating piece of RCBS equipment to use .... don't know if it common to other brands but it simply will not lock onto some bullets with a sufficient bite to pull them out of a case .... with the purchase of a Henry 45-70 I need a 45 collet .... I sure hope this one works better than the 44 caliber collet .... I have a bunch of 45-70's with cast bullets that I need to pull

I'm liking this Magnetospeed chrono as it can be use on revolvers. On a single action revolver if the ejector tube is in the way for good strap mounting
you can remove it for your test. Might be getting this unit soon! Clouds,rain blazing sun,shade….makes no difference with this setup!

Made the rounds today, looking for primers, etc. 1st. to Relaoders Bench in Mt. Juliet, none to be had, found some Win. 45/70 brass,
on to Academy Sports, long line to get in 2 at a time, circled the parking lot & moved on to BassPro. Did find some LR CCI primers, but had to get the BR, got some Federal SP primers, and a Warne Mazima scope base, while I could find one without ship. chgs.
Then, headed to the house, Whew!!

I agree Forty, if your serious about developing loads a chrono is a must. I use two different types (for different reasons). I have the MagnetoSpeed V3 I use with specific rifles. Mounting is a Pain in the neck for levers and some rifles. (On my levers I either mount on top of the barrel, or sideways. It comes with a small square metal tube to help get the right measurement between chrono and muzzle. It is very specific on mounting, but when done correctly extremely accurate.If you have trouble with mounting, go to you tube there are several different variations.

I also use the Competition Electronics ProChrono DLX Chronograph. It is easy to set up, also very accurate, very user friendly for anything from rifle to pistol to pellet gun. Small learning curve re: brigh sunlight which I deal with in Arizona but workarounds are easy.

I am loading up four different loads for 45-70 next week and will chrono.

I have seen pictures on their site with it mounted on SA revolvers with the unit on the side. Looks to me on shorter barrel revolvers
you could remove the ejector housing during tests for more clamping room.
How well does it fit on an octagonal barrel?

Got some 230 gr. Speer bullets loaded up with 5.5 gr of Red Dot. According to my 49th Lyman book 6.5 is the suggested starting load with a stated
908 FPS and at 11,100 CUP. as tested in a Ruger BH 7.5 barrel. Mine should be in the 770-800 FPS range at less than 11,000 CUP.
From my reading a 200-250 gr. lead bullet with 5.0-6.0 Red Dot is used quite often in the Remington conversion revolvers.

We will see how it shoots in a couple days after this rainy period moves out!

really nice Picture 40 - beautiful Colt. Love the 45 !
on my big boys with octagon I have to mount on top of the barrel. I am not looking for accuracy here (obviously, I cant see my sights), just velocity. The distance between the bottom of the bore (crown) and the mag is very precise.

As for the pistol, I did get it to work on my 7.5 inch Blackhawk, but it is just too much hassle so I go to the Competition Electronics for my pistols. I just checked Midway and they have the pro chrono DLX on sale for $109.00 (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020438152?pid=988434)

I also like the Comp Electronics because it is easy to interface with my laptop and also auto connects blue tooth with your smart phone to show you results and archive strings.

Yesterday morn before I went to the daughter's, I did loaded 20, 25-20's with some H 4198, and the Hdy, 60 FP's.
Try to test one day this week, quite windy out today.

Are there still a large group of folks into ham radio? My brother and I were into the CB radio action back in the late 60's.
He worked at a CB radio repair shop and had his 1st class FCC license when he was 18. He also worked at various radio stations
as engineer on the night shifts. He used to build power amplifiers for some CB guys back then.
One time back then we were talking to some guy in the Virgin Islands on a 5 watt walkie talkie hooked up to a 100 watt amp
at night when the skip was good!

You have any use for any of this stuff. The SWR meter in the box is like brand new.If you do I will just give it to you. Its sat in my basement for years and not seen any use. I have no use for it at all.

The big box on the left is my 4 tube 800 watt amplifier, then it's my icom 7300 HF Radio, next to it is my antenna tuner, above that stuff to from left to right is my morse code key , then a power supply for the radio, swr meter for the 2 meter radio, then my Yaesu 2900R 2 meter radio. There's a lot more, but that's the jist of it. I get around the world with this gear. Thanks for asking.

I've always been impressed by folks being able to do so .... I've used CB radios for a lone time but never anything even approaching a Ham Radio

Xtreme Bullets emailed me with the bullets I ordered on the way. I also pulled some bullets out of some 41 mag cases that I have been having issues with.
