BB Jamb

The other day at the range was the first time I had loaded my BB in 357 more than one at a time and found that the lifter is not coming up high enough to feed a round unless I use a lot of force to push the lever forward. When the lever is pushed all the way forward easily the lifter doesn't come up all the way causing a jamb. Another annoyance I am having is unless I open it with force the case hangs up in the ejector.

I am thinking of disassembling it and polishing anything that shows wear or contact. Anybody with more knowledge have any Ideas on a solution.

Seems like a good idea. I have experienced a casing or two getting hang during ejection, unless I cycle the lever with purpose. But, I have not experienced jamming. Yet, I have taking the trigger group and carriage out for inspection and cleaning. Parts looks solid and well made. However, I found myself spending a lot of time lining up the screw for mounting the trigger in the receiver. It could have been just me. I just found that it took me more time to reinstall than my Marlins.

GFK I agree that it takes more time to reassemble. I have had it apart a dozen times working on the trigger so it gets a little bit easier with repetition. One more time and I will take a better look at the rest of it.

This may not be the exact same problem you're having, but John E Davies and I were getting a different kind of jam in the same model 44 Mag BB seemly caused by - for a lack of a better description - a "double feed". John was able to get his rifle to the factory, fixed and returned before the shutdowns closed Henry for the time being. Here's a link to his original post.

If you go to the third page, you can see my temporary fix, using masking tape at first and then switching to aluminum foil tape since I figured it might be more durable. It involves adding the tape to the part of the lever that raises the cartridge carrier/lifter. In my case, it raised the carrier enough to block the double feed. I'm guessing that the tape might actually help the lever raise your lifter higher.

Also, I'm not that familiar with lever guns and the Henry in particular. In my rifle, an H012X BB, the lifter doesn't start to come up until I start moving the lever back about half an inch from it's most forward position during the reloading sequence. I'm not sure if that's the way they all operate - maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in. By the way, the temporary tape fix has gone 50 rounds with no problems. I just recently replaced it with 3 pieces to increase the thickness and tried it again with no problems although I only fired 12 rounds this time. And I've been in touch with Henry customer service by email just waiting for them to open back up to get my rifle fixed correctly.

As for your ejector hang up, I had a similar problem once I made my temporary (there's that word again) tape fix. After a little stoning and polishing on the ejector, my rifle feeds much smoother now. The only time I now get any resistance is when I cycle the lever gently. I just have to add a little more pressure and the round feeds where before I had to double cycle the lever. Here's a link to that post.

The fix on my BB jamming problem was a lot easier fix than I thought. I was able to take a closer look with better light using dummy rounds. The extractor was overriding the ejector and pushing the round to far to the left and up against the receiver causing the round to be pushed in at an angle sideways. When I used the lever with "authority" it would force the round into the chamber but not when I cycled it slow. I bent the ejector a little bit to put more tension on the round and the problem is solved. The action now works like it should whether I cycle it fast of slow.
