I just returned from camp, moved more stuff from my old house to the new one and am just taking care of forum business. It seems we have a few friends from Australia joining us. Glad they are here.

I'm having a vodka gimlet and then bed early. I'm working my part time job on the fourth.

Did some shopping today and ordered a new carpet cleaner. Having a few Miller High Life tonight and watching the ball game on ESPN coming from Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Braves vs. Marlins. The wife will make cole slaw to take to a picnic tomorrow, but the prediction is for rain, so it will be under the patio roof. The community has already postponed the fireworks until next Saturday night.

Ours was a restful, quiet day. A few shots of tequila and a beer after dinner, and it's off to a good night's sleep -- that is, if our neighbors can keep from shooting off illegal fireworks! Boom, boom, boom. What's with that, anyway?

Happening here too, right now. It's a neighborhood tradition which I have no part of. The dog disappears for hours. She has a good hiding place.

Happy 4th tomorrow folks! 33 yrs ago I was in Jackson Hole Wyoming on the 4th of July, and it was a blast. Rodeo, fireworks, and then off to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for live music. A good time was had by all.

I worked today and had a really neat experience by meeting up with RetiredSeabee. We had a late lunch and talked. He is a fine gentleman. A very interesting man. He is passionate about his yoga. It was great to meet him. It seems he and the wife are on a whirlwind tour of upstate NY to visit friends and family. He advised me he was nearby and I was thrilled to meet a forum member. I'm going to make a batch of vodka gimlets to celebrate, lol.

Maybe a Henry forum Alaskan or Caribbean cruise each year would work....tea time soon and relaxing. My wife is getting ready for the Calgary Stampede Western Art Auction this week on Wednesday evening. She working on her painting tonight. We will head up to "Cowtown" i.e. Calgary for the day, have supper out and be at the auction for 5pm. The actual Stampede starts on Friday this week. The whole city goes crazy for it, with gigantic pancake breakfasts at malls, a huge parade on opening day through the downtown, and live entertainment all over the city.

No hang over here. Just busy like everyone else. I'm just now relaxing with a nice glass of Canadian Whiskey. It's the new Scotch as far as I'm concerned. Such nice complexities so close and so inexpensive (so far).

Got home on Saturday from a great trip to New York. As Dave said above we met for lunch. He bought and was a great host. It really was a high point of the trip for me.
I love the history of the Finger Lakes area of the state. It always amazes me that so many buildings up there were built in the 17 and 18 hundreds and are still in use today.
We hit up some excellent wineries and found a great microbrewery. I will be posting about the wines in the made in USA thread.
Tonight I remembered I had a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey that has been neglected. It is fine stuff.

I enjoyed every minute of our visit. It is something I will remember for a very long time. I've never met an online friend before.

I am enjoying a nice Canadian Whiskey. It truly is the new Scotch. Don't let that get around.

I like scotch, but I like VO too. Tonight it is just a Miller High Life. Every night this week the grandson is playing baseball in a little league tournament so that's where I am spending my evenings till about 11:00 each night. Nothing like watching kids play ball.

Back in the 60's Canadian Club was top shelf stuff. Over the years, the brand has been eclipsed by Crown Royal, and scotch and bourbon have passed by the Canadians in general. Not sure why that happened. Still, it doesn't make them stuff any less enjoyable.

I have discovered Canadian Whiskey just in time. Most Scotch, while excellent, is priced a bit over it's value in my opinion. I remember when the Scotch "resurgence" came to be. I was getting a nice single malt at a great price. Then everyone wanted Scotch and it shot up in price. I had never even tried Canadian Whiskey until a few years ago. I have found a few that have great flavor and are a good price too. Canadian Club is still a good one apparently. It's on my list to look for when I shop.

Tonight, after making sauce, I'm having a pitcher of gimlets. To mix it up, so to speak, I'm adding a bit of lime tonic water to them. I like it as a summer night cap.

Evening all from Jonesboro, GA. No baseball to watch, so I am just watching whatever the wife wants to watch and really not paying much attention to the show. One of my guilty pleasures is to have a little scotch from time to time. I over pay for what I like, but that is why it is my guilty pleasure. Oban single malt is one of my favorites. I don't really know why, but I like the taste of it. Sometimes I like it with a little ice, but most times, no ice, just scotch. So cheers guys. Have a good evening.
