Went down to the range to test out my new ghost ring sight on the Marlin 1895 GS .45-70 and also test out the .38 Special 158 gr. MB
bullets loaded over 5.5 gr. of Power Pistol in ol' Evil Roy.
First up was the Marlin and started with my standard 405 gr. cast bullet with 40 gr. of IMR 3031.
From 30 yds. and standing position not a bad group and no adjustments had been made since I installed the sight.
One thing I noticed was I would get a slight headache after firing one of those loads...getting old!
Next were the more shooter friendly 14 gr. Unique loads with same 405 gr. Laser Cast Bullet. These shot very well with about same impact point
from 30 yds. Nice load you can plink with all day!
'Then I moved back to 45 yds. and from standing position tried my luck with that critter target using the 40 gr. IMR 3031 loads...not too bad!
Next up was to try the .38 Special +P loads with that 158 gr. MB bullet with 5.5 gr. Power Pistol.
Wow some nice shot groups from 15 yds. standing! Very nice shootin load with the Evil Roy six gun!
First group to the right was one handed shooting with my left hand. Next group was with support of right hand.
Then some fun picking off the steel targets with the Marlin and ol' Evil Roy. https://youtu.be/k6ZlQTd1iKA
Results....the Ghost ring setup work very well for target plinking and easy to get on target. No adjustments were made to elevation and just a touch to the windage.
The 38 Special load looks like a winner for plinking and target shooting with the six shooter!
