What did you do at your reloading bench today?

I'd appreciate hearing any comments you'd care to share on the tumbler shown in the picture of your green and red bullets

Jim, it's really pretty simple.
First and foremost is good quality paint, I get mine from a guy over on castboolits, his handle is Smoke.
Then a plastic container, I use an old one gallon jug that came with pretzels in.
Put a handful 50,60 air soft pellets in the jug with a little powdered paint, (don't really take a lot.)
Close the lid, shake, stir the mix for a minute or so, drop bullets in, close lid and shake, stir for another minute.
Then I pour onto a large space screen, then I put in a small toaster oven I found at the Goodwill store for next to nothing.
350° for 20 minutes.
I run them through the sizer before and after coating.

Sized, trimmed & tumbled about 50 .30-30 - UPDATE - finally got to use the handle I made for my Lee case trimmer shell holder - works great!

Cuts trimming time by about 1/2 due to not having to fiddle with the little holder. The handle makes the Lee case holder now an easy to use tool!

AND ordered 500 9MM 124 grain Plated RN bullets from Xtreme - heck even with shipping they end up being less than what I pay locally for 250 round boxes!

sorry, I did a poor job of asking what I was trying to ask .. .. I was referring to what looks like it a Franklin Arsenal case tumbler

Thanks Randy looks just like mine. I was having some issues yesterday with a certain round I have loaded. Im not sure if its the way there loaded or not but its only with that round and that bullet all others function flawlessly. Thanks for taking the time to do that for me appreciate it alot.

The tumbler I just recently acquired, using Dawn dish washing soap and the SS pins they come clean,
in quick order. Midway had it on sale and I found the pins cheaper on e bay.

all of my casing cleaners I have used have been vibrators using walnut shells .... I've been thinking about looking at something like yours to add to our portable setup .... I can see a distinct advantage in not having to pack media .... then for what I do, I can see just wiping the outside of the case with lube and loading it without other cleaning

Ive used both Jim. I have a thumblers tumbler in the basement thats been idle for quite sometime. So long that I need new lid seal because it leaks a little. Mine used ceramic media which had a tendency to jam up in the cases because of its abrasiveness. I should order some steel pins and new seals and put it to use because it does a good job on the cases all the way around

one issue I'm having to come to grips with centers on determining the minimum amount equipment and supplies needed .... there is no way we can take everything in our entire loading room .... if a case cleaner is necessary, we need to select one that will, most importantly, do a good job while at the same time taking up the least amount of space possible ....

I've read and believe that case cleaning to the point of gleaming brass is above and beyond what is necessary. Tarnished, but otherwise clean brass with clear primer pockets should be satisfactory. A peanut butter jar with a little Dawn detergent, shaken and soaked for a while, ought be adequate.

The Paint Bucket Method
When we discussed equipment needs, I mentioned that you don’t “need” brass cleaning equipment. It’s really a want. You need to clean it enough to make it safe and reliable by getting the loose dirt and powder residue off, but making it shiny is what it sounds like – a cosmetic preference.

If you’ve got a plastic bucket with a lid, you can add water and a little bit of Tide and shake away to your hearts content. That’ll be enough to get the loose grime off. Some people like to use various combinations of vinegar, dish soap, and Lemi-Shine with the washing method, so feel free to experiment. Just be sure to rinse your brass after using other cleaning additives.

There are only two drawbacks to the shake and rinse method: the brass may not look pristine and you’ll have to thoroughly dry it before proceeding to the next reloading step. Since it applies to a couple of cleaning methods discussed here, we’ll address ways to dry brass in a section later in this article.

We've all done this before: while looking for one thing, found something else. This time, 50 primed and flared .45 Colt cases I had in a jar. Start loading in about a half hour. I believe that will give me 500. Not bad.

For a long time I would put my brass in an old sock tie off the end and trough it in with my laundry. Make sure their isn't a hole in the toe.

Confession time! Please don't be too hard on me...
I bought a Ruger stainless steel 10-22 back in 1996 and I have shot thousands of rounds through it since then.... and have never cleaned it. All of this time it has been a solid performer and a very accurate little rifle. I guess that is a testimony to the great rifle that it is and what a lousy friend I am to it. (I would never treat a Henry that way!).. Well this weekend it started to miss-behave (light strikes)... It had had enough I guess. So, the 10-22 is dis-assembled on my reloading bench and getting a scrub down.
Better late than never?

Well my 2 lbs. of Alliant 2400 made it home and that's good. But wish my Missouri Bullets 158 gr. RNFP would make it here soon.
Got my loader setup for the .38 Specials and a good Power Pistol load and just waiting for the lead!
