M1 carbine & Ruger Mini 14 range fun!

Got my Fulton Armory built M1 Carbine and the Mini 14 out today for some target fun.
Setup the paper targets at 50 yds. and enjoyed my relaxed style of shooting from the chair. Later had a bunch of fun hitting the water

The M1 carbine gave me a nice little 3 shot group which wasn't too bad with the iron peep sight and my old eyes...fun little shooter!
You might notice in the video the fireball coming out the barrel of the hot Mini 14 5.56 rounds and it to shot well.

Then I wanted to try the 5.56 62 gr. steel tipped penetrator rounds on a 3/4 inch thick steel plate from 50 yds. to see if it would shoot thru
the plate. Had a water jug behind plate to catch anything that penetrated.
Well it came close but no cigar this time....maybe 1/2 inch plate would have made the difference but still a nice big deep crater.
Any 2 liters hiding behind a 3/4 steel plate would be safe for another day!

Had a great afternoon and it REALLY felt great to get out in the fresh country air and away from the corona virus fears of the city for a while!

Looks like had a good time forty.
I have never shot either type rifle.
I've heard a lot of stories about the Ruger's not being real accurate.
Yours seems to be though.

Great range Report. I had an M1 Carbine from 1943 but gave it to a friend. Also had a Mini14 but sold it.

Yes it was great to get that pair of carbines out as I don't shoot them as often as the other guns...I don't reload for the .30 Carbine or .223.
My neighbor down the road heard the semi-auto fire and had to come by with his new MP-40 and plink/talk!

Forty, that was some fine shooting. Pretty impressed with that Fulton M1! Mighty accurate. Always entertaining watching your video's. Fun times.

I viewed the video this am Forty. The 30 carbine looks like a kick. I had one at one time but sold it as like you didnt load for it and the ammo was a little pricey. Nice shooting. How does your neighbor like his 40?

Me getting an M1 Carbine was a story itself. You see for years I had wanted one ever since getting that Crosman M1 Carbine BB air rifle for
Christmas back in 1966. About 15 yrs. ago I picked up a pair of M1 Carbine magazines while at a local gun show while I was wandering around looking at military issue Carbines. Several years ago a friend was selling his Dad's collection of military ammo which included many Carbine magazines and vintage Vietnam era ammo....think I paid 100 bucks for all that. So I collected the ammo before I owned the Carbine!
Then a couple years ago I got serious about getting one and after looking at the prices for good condition vintage M1 Carbines I decided to get a fresh one built from some original GI parts and new parts that were machined to Military specs and materials by Fulton Armory. Price wise about same cost.
Very happy with that decision and I recently saw where the prices have gone up.

My neighbor is very happy with his new MP-40 and is currently getting the Fed. paperwork together to add the correct style folding stock to it.
