41 mag BBS Carbine

Post by Ojaileveraction » Thu Mar 05, 2020 7:55 pm

A 41 mag Big Boy Steel, 18 1/2 inch too my eye, showed up at the LGS.
Asking $749.00.
May be something to keep my eye on?
Winchester 88 in 308 , BEAT up stock, asking $600.
And an Old Win '94 in 25-35, Nickel Iron Smokeless Powder Steel.

Has to be a 20" barrel or 16.5". They don't make a 18.5". I bought a .41 mag Carbine at my LGS in 2018. Paid $697 out the door (no tax or Nics fee), but I'm pretty sure MS prices are lower than CA prices, so $749 may be a good deal. MSRP is the same for the BBS and BBSC ($922 this year). Can you talk them down?

A 20" inch then, thanks.
Used Henreys are rare, 41 mag used or new is rarer.

Honestly though the Beat up Winchester 88 in 308 is more alluring for me.
It's lighter than a Finnwolf. 308 recoil....

Given the choice, I'd have to go with the Win 88, IF it's pre-'64, and in decent usable condition. Those were fine rifles. :)

Those 88's have horrid, mushy triggers. See what you think on that trigger.

If you have a Sportsman’s Warehouse nearby they are having a $100.00 off sale on Henry’s. I believe the BBS is listed at $699.00.

It may be there awhile. I'd Want to put in some dummy bullets with a fresh piece of neoprene in the primer pocket to check the firing pin imprint.

I'm pretty much all in on pistol caliber and moderate pressure lever rifles.
Want a lever to stand and shoot 40+ rounds 500 meters with out a rainbow arch trajectory . Like maybe a long ranger in .243 win.

They sell New Henry's and other lever rifles Marlin , Chippaua. Seen a few Side Gate Henry's go thru there.
Could be part of the reason.

Is that before or after the $100 off?

Those are the sale prices. But let me digress a bit. In looking at the price details I see that not all of them are $100 off. Looking back at the email ad, I overlooked the part where it says 'up to $100 off'. Sifting further through the individual model details I see that price varies with caliber.

It's the BBS 44mag on sale there for $689.99 while the
BBS .41 rem mag and BBS Carbine .41 rem mag are on sale there for $699.99.

$700 is about average for around here, so I don't see it as much of a sale. To me anyway.
