New Henry H010 hopefully 45/70

Post by Grunt67 » Fri Feb 28, 2020 3:01 pm

FInally bit the bullet ( not literally ), this AM. Went to Sportsmans Outdoors Super Store in Murfreesboro,TN, where they had the rifle on sale. Got to the store, sold it yesterday ( dang ). So..., tried to order it online there in the store, wouldn't go thru, said the payment info was incorrect. OK, I'll go home & try from there. Same result. Getting a bit ticked at this point, so I call my bank & had them check the card. She says there was a block on the card, due to the amount of purchase. She removed the block & changed my phone #.
Still didn't work, so I call Mastercard, says the block is gone, should be ok.
Try it again, same story. ( Smoke coming from the top of my noggin now ). I scroll down thru the card info, and noticed there was a period after my middle initial. That won't work on the card, removed to period, purchase went thru. WHEW!!

So, now in a few days ( hopefully ), I'll have my new Henry in my paws.
Keep you fingers crossed folks,

End of rant, lOL,
Larry

I hate having to jump through hoops trying to spend my money. Glad you persevered and ordered your new rifle, it will be worth it.

Yep, a pain in the butt. But I'm not the type to give up easily. Stubborn as a house cat.

Remember what they said years ago. "Computers are your friend". I think they misspelled friend, maybe fiend. Glad you got it ordered.

They can be. They can also be your worst enemy. Kinda like a Marine. ;)

Well, just when you think things couldn't get more screwed up, it has. Got an email from Sportsmans Outdoors, saying they need a copy of the FFL. Called the store, they say they can't ( stupid, yes ). Gave me a # to call CS, wrong #. Long story short, I replied to the email, giving a large piece of my mind, which I don't have any to spare.
Told them to cancel the order. I'll look elsewhere. They won't get any more of my business.
Not been a good day, and no rifle.

That s**ks. I don't know what the sale price was but there is a 45-70 on GB for $780 plus $30 ship.

Update, I've ordered another rifle, from another source, LGS. Should be here in a week, maybe or before, depending on shipping.
We'll see how this try goes.............

Who ever thought that buying a rifle could ever be so difficult? All I can say is that it will all be worth it. I love my Henry 45/70 and I'm confident that you will too, (that is if you ever get it!) :x

Just a side note to your comment about difficulty in buying a gun. Yesterday, at my gun local shop, a man came in and said he was moving from New Jersey to Delaware and he was asking about buying a gun and transporting a gun. He was paying $12,000/year in taxes in NJ and now has a tax bill of $1,200 on a new home in DE. He asked about how to bring a gun to DE from NJ and his jaw dropped when he found out all he had to do was just bring the guns here, no registration or other restrictions. He was also flabbergasted to find out he could buy a gun with just the federal form 4473 and NICS background check and then walk out with the gun immediately. I enjoyed talking to him just to see his amazement. Now back to Grunt's 45-70.

Sometimes we, ( I ), forget how fortunate we are to live in a gun friendly area. Here in TN, we have concealed/open carry, buy a gun with a background ck., go on our way , as you said, with gun in hand. In the past few days, or Governor has proposed that TN become a Constitutional State, no permits required. Seems to have support in a Conservative Legislature, but you never know how that will go.
Also, if you want to buy/trade with your buddy, or anyone else, you do so with no BG check.
Now, back to waiting on the 45/70, LOL

Little update on the H010. Called my LGS this AM to check on the order. Stan says it had to be called back due to the storm damage disrupting the area. Re-shipped, should be here middle of the week. FEDEX got some damage.
The Lebanon area, where the LGS is located is a mess. He didn't have any damage, other than losing electricity for a while. Heard Walmart is closed, roof torn off, may have to be rebuilt. 24 people lost their lives. That's a lot worse than anyone's property damage.

Finally got my new Henry H010 45/70 today. As some of you know, this process has been a nightmare, but I finally prevailed, LOL
Tried to get a pic on here, but it comes out too large. Have to work on that & send later.
Since it was purchased on 2/29/20, it should qualify for the free Henry case. We'll see. I have applied for it.
Rifle looks really nice, good fit & finish, nice furniture.
Glad to be officially a part of the Henry family.
Hope this crazy TN weather will clear up so & can do some trigger pulling. Not looking too good right now.
Whew!!

You should get your gun case. As long as your receipt has the 2/29/2020 date your H010 45-70 qualifies for the case. Henry will ship it quickly. Eagerly waiting for your photo.
