Anyway, after waiting for the scope mount and bases to arrive, I finally took it to the range today. After only about 3 shots, I had it dialed in, and it did not disappoint. While I eventually sighted in at 75 yards, the target below was 5 shots at 50 yards. Four in a clump, and one just to the left, which I called as soon as I pulled the trigger. Needless to say, I think this one will do just fine on Bambi and friends next fall. Love my Henry's!

New Big Boy is a shooter!
New Big Boy is a shooter!
I recently bought a new Big Boy Steel 45 Colt. I already have a Big Boy CCH in 45 Colt, which I used to great success this fall during deer season. However, I decided that the CCH was too pretty, and also a very low serial number, to warrant dragging it thru the woods and getting it dinged up. So, the logical answer was...buy another Henry, of course! Only this one is in the plain blued steel. A nice-looking rifle in it's own right, but I won't be quite so torn up if it gets a scratch or two.

Thank you.
I've got a Nikon Prostaff P3 Shotgun 2-7x32 scope on it. Shooting my handloads. 250gr Hornady XTP, 23.0gr Accurate #9 powder, Starline brass, WLP primer. That gives me right around 1700 fps from my rifle. I killed 2 deer and a coyote with that load back in November, using the CCH rifle.

Very nice shootin'! And yes we all want to hear what your load was! My favorite with the Uberti/Winchester 1873 is 8.5 Unique
with a 250-255 gr. cast bullet. Not that I hunt with it but out to 80 yds. with open sights you hit what you aim at!

Nice!!! Haven't tried that powder in my .45 Colt loads. I use 2400 for hotter loads. Looks like it works very well!bdbrown66 wrote: βTue Jan 28, 2020 8:01 pmThank you.
