as we as a whole won't be in the market as long as the younger generation.

I wonder it the stocks from any other their rifles would fit the first sidegates?
As most of y'all know that I dislike those also.
God I wish they would produce a nice blued version of those with a plain or lightly checkered stock.
I guess they don't want me to own any more Henrys.

I bought my Henrys for the traditional look. I am disappointed that Henry would even contemplate this. It would have been nice if they made exact duplicates of the 1866 and 1873 lever guns.

I won't be buying anymore firearms from anyone. I've got what I've wanted, and the BBSC was the last one on the list. Besides, my wife told me that if I buy another gun, she gets a new Cadillac Escalade. Definite buzzkill there.

I bought my Henrys for the traditional look. I am disappointed that Henry would even contemplate this. It would have been nice if they made exact duplicates of the 1866 and 1873 lever guns.

Some people are not like you, that is why. No need to get upset, just don;'t buy one.I love the guns with traditional brass and octagonal barrel, but for my needs they just don't work. Plus I would worry too much about damage.

Henry must think these will sell, and the responses I have seen on other gun forums (not so much the dedicated lever gun forums) is generally positive.

Gene, like yo I have all a man could really need, that sayin, I stumbled into a Bunch of reloading supplies for a 38-55.
So at some point I would like to find a shootable one or I just need to sell the supplies and move on.
Besides I would need another safe If I were to continue, and I don't really have room for one.

exactly .... I do believe that introducing side gates for pistol cartridges in their BBS and CCH lines will be a major hit for Henry

It strikes me as a relatively low risk testing of the waters in terms of where consumers will let the brand go.

It's not like many (any?) of us "core user" traditionalists are going to divest ourselves or our Henry inventory, and they're probably well aware that we'd likely not buy one anyway.

What it seems to be about is attempting to reach a new audience altogether, as has been pointed out: younger, with more more of a "tactical" bent to how they approach their shooting hobby. They're not hung up on aesthetics; in fact, they're used to "Frankenguns", as all the "kit" (and kit-like) MSRs demonstrate.

If it flops, so what? They're left holding most of the design work (as you all note above) to roll out pistol cartridge side-loaders, which wouldn't be a surprise to any of us.

Strikes me that it falls into the "you don't know if you don't try it" category of product/line extensions. And, let's face it, their "core users" are aging out...

Naming these "X" Model was probably a smart move also from a marketing standpoint. Something about "X" that appeals to a certain market. Although, I'd have probably gone with Full Semi-Levermatic.

While many here like the traditional wood and steel/brass rifles, I can see the X model being a truck/beater rifle for rough use where you don't really care about damaging the finish of the rifle plus you can add a light. I don't, personally, have a need for this one but I can see others getting one.
