For the last lead of 2019, I did some 25 and 50 yd work as the wind was a little nasty today. Shooting reloads, 200 gr LRNFP, 6.6 gn of Universal. 50 rounds total.

First up, some cowboy mayhem with my 1860 Colt Richards Conversion revolver in 45 Colt. 8" barrel, open top, SA Army style grip. 10 rounds on some unfortunate Pony Express riders. Looks like the mail is gonna' be late again. Shooting 1 hand at 15 yds.

Next up is 3 barrels full (36 rounds) of 45 Colt through my 1860 Henry at 50 yds shooting from 1 knee position. Couple in the middle-ish just for fun. Bit windy so lots of adjustment today.

And best of all....last 4 rounds shot with my Henry....25 yds, off hand standing....took me 2 rounds on each coin BUT I GOT 'EM! Thought I had lost them as it looks like they fly into the air when hit. Searched around in the powdery snow but nothing. Then I thought hmmmmm....sure enough they were driven into the wood backboard. Dug them out with my knife and here they are! 2 Canadian dollar coins (Loonies) cuz they have loons on them on one side. You can see where the lead hit. They bend pretty good... :D Wish I could say I shot them out of the air like Jimmy Stewart in Winchester '73 but I tacked them to the board with 3 push pins around them. The sun shines off 'em so you can see them from a distance. Great fun but I'm out 2 bucks...

Two bucks well spent! Excellent shooting.

No never mind about the Pony Express Riders. The Christmas card U.S. Mail rush is over.

Thanks very much for a great year of flying Canadian lead, Ranch Roper. Enjoyed every story, photo, and bullet. :D

As above, RR. You are a real artist, not only with those 45s, but with these posts. They are in a class by themselves. Can't wait to see what you can do with that 1885 in the coming year.

Nice shootin and a great story. I enjoy your range reports and I've read your "ruminations on reloading." Those notes will come in handy when I start loading my own.

Glad you enjoyed that thread on reloading. For every dumb question I asked there were a lot of experienced responses that helped me. Reloading can be intimidating and there is information overload out there. Take your time and work at your own safe pace. Good luck. I still only do about 50 rounds an hour or so and that's good enough for me as I still check and measure all the time. 50 safe rounds are better than a hundred might be ok's....
