Camco Rhinoflex RV Sewer Fitting Wrench Set

those who camp in motorhomes, 5ers, or travel trailers will no doubt understand ..... I just came across a Camco RV Sewer Fitting Wrench for the first time, didn't even know they existed .... finding out about it couldn't have come at a more opportune moment .... it seems like more and more I have trouble connecting and/or disconnecting bayonet sewer hoses and fittings .... the issue is most likely caused by by me growing older and weaker .... arthritic hands along with who knows what else doesn't help .... while looking for a replacement clear plastic fitting, I happened on the ad seen at the link below ........ I have several Camco fittings and decided to give a set of these wrenches a try .... they should arrive in today's mail and if they perform as advertised , I'll most certainly base future purchases of fitting on if they are designed to work with the wrenches

Hopefully this works out well for you.

Looking at the design I'm thinking the tool 'snaps' onto the 'ridges' of the fitting and holds it somewhat securely while you remove or connect the fitting. Otherwise it might be aggravating if the tool is too loose on the fitting.

Guy dont need arthur in his hands to want some of these. Cant tell you how many times I have cussed at the sewer fittings trying to get them apart. Not sure what brand of line I have Jim but Im keeping this in mind. Thanks for the heads up.

understood .... mine is out in the mailbox which I didn't walk out to today .... all 10% of the rain in our forecast fell most all day .. .. the problem I have with them is sufficient to motivate me to begin moving to different fittings if the ones I have don't work with the wrench

wrenches arrived today .... seem to be pretty much as advertised ... picture 1 shows the wrenches .... picture 2 shows a good fit .... picture 3 can be made to work with .... pictures 4 & 5 won't fit .... I have decided that if/when we buy future waste handling hoses and fittings, we will go with ones designed to go with the wrenches

I have Rhino hose and fittings, they are a lot nicer than the ones that were with the 5th wheel when I got it. Don't need the wrench as it's not used as a travel trailer, got it for a good friend to live in at least temporarily. Got it hooked up to my power, water and septic tank.

Built a small deck and stairs so we don't have to use the 5th wheel's fold down stairs. Next year want to extend the deck and put a free-standing metal roof over it (the stairs and deck, not the entire 5th wheel). She'll have to put up with shoveling the snow off the porch and stairs this Winter. Installed rigid foam insulation skirting around the black water tank with a small heater so it won't freeze, just leave the grey water valves open. Will get the whole thing skirted next year.

nice looking deck, it should serve her well .... the other upgrades you have in mind seem to be well thought out .... have you considered having a larger, free standing propane tank placed so that it can be filled by a home delivery truck .. .. having one can really come in handy in the winter .... understood on not using the OEM steps .... for the last 6 or so years we have been using a portable deck/steps .... as seen below, we use the steps when overnighting and when the camper is setup in our back yard ....the deck can be put up in 10 - 15 minutes and taken down in 5 or so .... the steps can be put up and/or taken down in seconds .... they provide us with a very stable access to our camper

Will most likely need to get a larger propane tank. She had been getting by with a space heater until recently but as it's getting colder she's had to use the gas furnace more and hauling and changing out the smaller tanks is going be a pain especially if we have a hard Winter. She started using it and we noticed it had hardly any air flow except to the bathroom vent. She opened up the enclosure board and for some reason someone had disconnected the hoses to the living room and bedroom vents, Hopefully with them hooked back up the furnace won't have to run as long.

The underground electrical conduit has a 30amp 110 circuit for the 5th wheel and also a separate 20amp 110 circuit. I sized the conduit large enough to replace the 20 amp wires with large enough wires to run a 50 amp 220 if we ever want to. Would be nice to figure out a way to completely heat it with electric. I think I have mentioned in a different thread that we have the cheapest electric rates in the country, 2.6 cents per kwh., with propane it's going to cost more to heat it than it costs me to heat my 1000 sq. ft. mobile home.

Alpenlite campers aren't known to be heavily insulated .... sealing the area under the camper and installing some heat will most certainly help .... understood on the separate 20 amp circuit, I installed one in yours shortly after purchasing it back in '05 ..... as you noted, an RV 30amp is 110 but an RV 50 amp is also 110, not 220

I'm running a small space heater under the black water tank and another in the storage space which is also return air for the gas furnace. Both set at about 50F and total space is maybe 200 cubic feet so they won't run very much, both are set at 750watts and both are running off the separate 20 amp circuit.

Wish we could have gotten an arctic model 5th wheel but there wasn't much available at the time, this one was in very good condition and she really liked the floor plan, kitchen at the end and a full width window that looks out over our creek.

Thought of getting a park model but they don't exist around here used. New units were somewhat out of our price range. Also would have required a lot more site work and a building permit. I would have had to level a spot in my pasture which may have required moving a 6" irrigation line that goes to large cherry orchard (not mine). Power and water would actually been easier but the sewer line would have been harder.

Would have been nice. The new ones we were looking at were 50amp 220 so electric heat, bigger water heater, standard size fridge and stove. Also no black water tank to deal with every couple of weeks.

Anyway, she's happy. Has built a chicken coop and has around 15 chickens, has renovated my next to the creek park area, has plans for an even bigger garden next year and we have a small greenhouse kit we will put together next year.

I've heard of park models wired for 220 but haven't personally seen one .... the 50 amp campers I'm familiar with (including ours) have 4 wires ... a neutral, a ground, and 2 separate 110 wires each of which has a 50 amp breaker .... those two lines go into the breaker box and run different circuits .... in addition, standard RV electrical appliances (not talking about 12V) aren't set up for 220 ..... all of this is based on my time spent working in the industry and my knowledge could most certainly be out of date .

back to the scintillating topic of RV sewer hoses .. .. based on a few realities, I ordered a Camco 20' Revolution Swivel Sewer Hose Kit ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0024 ... UTF8&psc=1 .... those realities include : I haven't purchased a new sewer hose since '02, I prefer 2 10ft hoses to 1 20ft hose, they are designed to work with the wrenches, it comes with a translucent elbow fitting .... on Amazon it carries 4 Stars based on 964 ratings .... in the info about it, they state "Easy to Use and Store: No clamps or tools needed; Each 10-foot section compresses to approximately 2-feet for easy storage" .... I measured it and it will compress to 2ft but to keep it that way requires pressure on all sides .... for me the prospect of being able to store our hoses in a smaller container is a plus .... a quick test of the connecting the hose fitting was a pleasant surprise I was able do so with minimal effort .... also an initial observation, I'm skeptical that when connected and stretched out, that they will stretch 20ft .... something over 15ft is easy to believe .... I wish I'd of ordered them a month ago so we would have time for testing prior to pulling out for Texas .... most have been patched to replace the ends and cut out areas with small leaks or other sections that have been stepped on and now are oval shaped .... over the next few days I will have to decide if I want to order more and totally replace our well aged collection ....

Looks very similar to the one I have other than mine is just a 10 footer and the elbow is clear instead of translucent. Very flexible, mine has to make a 180° turn right after it's connection to the 5th wheel.

the first picture below shows our first setup using our new sewer hoses mentioned above .... used one of the wrenches mentioned above to connect the Camco clear plastic fitting to the Valterra valve shown in the second picture .... the wrench made the connection quick and easy .... the hoses connected easily .... all in all, the easiest, quickest sewer hose setup that I've had in many, many a moon .... all in all, very pleased with this new equipment
