My first time years ago was that way. I wanted to do it that way again after seeing what my wife went through. I was told the Gatorade method was no longer an acceptable medical method per the FDA.

I did one last year. They had me mix a bottle of Miralax into a 32 oz Gatorade and drink. This was followed by the same thing 4 hours later. 6 hours after that I drank a full bottle of magnesium citrate.

Definitely did the job and tasted better than the chemicals.

Not sure of "why" I did it that way. It in Ohio at Cleveland Clinic.......just did as I was told..........LOL

I had my first about 50 too. When it came time for the 2nd I kept putting it off year after year. I did not yet good results with the 2nd. Way too many polyps to excise, so they took out what they could. Precancerous, but no cancer. They'll go after more this year.

That was my thinking after the first, 'definitely not me' ever again. That turned out to be an obstinately bad decision on my part. When your doctor tells you it's time, just bite the bullet and get it over with.

The procedure itself is not bad at all, tell the Dr. you want maximum sedation and you won't even know what happened. The prep is no fun, especially when I was told the 1 day prep was not enough for me and I had to do 2 days of liquid diet, that was tough, I was starving halfway through the first day but the double cheeseburger and onion rings right after the procedure was one of the best meals I've ever had.

Luckily the few polyps they found were benign and I don't have to have another one for 10 years.

My first outing the doctor found a bad poll-up. That required one every three years. I was unable get one in year three and this year was a clean bill of health. Back to every five years. They can save your life, or pay for the doctor's boat. It depends how you look at it.

The prep wasn't as bad the second time as the first. You know what to expect I guess.

The prep for the 2nd time was not as bad as the first time for me. An entirely different solution 2nd time around. However, I only used the flavor pack once. Worse with the flavor pack than without it.

I'm 50 and had my first one Thursday. He found a mass, but the biopsy came within 24 hours and it isn't cancer. I find out next week when the surgery will be to remove it. I'm going to hug my PA at my next appointment. She insisted I have it done and I tried my best to talk her out of it. I'm truly thankful she didn't back down.

Had my surgery yesterday, and the resection was successful. The doctor seemed very pleased with the results. If you're at the age, and haven't had a colonoscopy, please do it. I had zero symptoms.
