Shot 80 rounds of .22LR ammo, all at 15 yards distance: CCI 40gr SV LRN and Aguila 40gr CP Eley Prime. The only challenge today was a brisk 22mph wind. Not that strong, but the direction at the range was interesting. It was straight on from behind the target boards into the shooting booths. I've not seen those targets move around like that before....looked like a bunch of flags flapping straight out, every which way.
Anyway, first 20 rounds I tried offhand, one hand, sitting at the shooting bench. Comfortable sitting, but uncomfortable shooting. Guess the easiest evaluation is that I just didn't like it; didn't feel "natural" for whatever reason.
So after the first cease-fire, went back to how I love to shoot: offhand, one hand, standing. I know the wind didn't die down, and the sun kept on shining, but even the weather felt better

Had an interesting situation happen on the way home. But to start this aside off. I had enjoyable drives to and from the Parma Woods range. Yeah, never saw a still bush, shrub, tree, or branch that wasn't waving at me as I drove by. There are two country-road entrances to the deep-in-the-woods PW conservation range, and I took them both just to enjoy the scenery. In October, I'll get out there again when all the leaves are showing off fall colors. This will be the last week prior to the start of extended range hours for all the hunters to check and sight in their rifles. I was pleasantly surprised that out of the 24 booths, there were probably 15 or 16 available. I think both the wind and 87* temp may have kept some folk away.
Returning home again via the country roads, I noticed how folk were cleaning their yards and many were changing out there summer plantings for fall flowers. The mums are everywhere, and already splashing their colors to passersby. Went passed one nursery, and it's slowly wrapping up its selling season. Last enjoyable view of the trip home was a short viewing of Weatherby Lake, just on the outskirts of KCMO. The wind was doing its thing --- boats were rocking and breakers were knocking against the shorelines. I think the warm air of today hitting the low 60* temps of yesterday are getting ready some "fun" weather for us tonight. We're again predicted to expect strong winds with heavy thunderstorms.
All that tale to come to the "final incident." Man, I was daydreaming as I drove into KCMO, and approaching the stoplights and highway interchanges of the city. My head was still back on the country roads, and also thinking about Weatherby. Gosh, I solidly ran a red light
, hit my brakes and squealed that Beetle's tires real good! I couldn't believe that traffic in all four directions were dead-stopped....most thankfully. Had to have been the timing of the stoplights. I ended up halfway through the intersection. The truck behind me was kind enough to let me back up, and I sat there very grateful not to have hit anyone, or been hit myself.Glanced at the on-coming, still-stopped traffic. Sitting in the left turn lane facing me was a KCMO Police SUV!! Whoa! He must have been daydreaming, too. Looked like he wasn't even paying attention to my driving antics. He turned left, and didn't even look at me. Go figure! Well, the remaining 5 or 6 miles to my house were driven with much care and attentiveness! Glad to be here logged on the Forum, "unbroken" and writing this range report and travel tale.
Getting pretty dark outside, and just heard some thunder starting. So I'll close my windy report on my windy day!
