Interesting Rig
on 8-9-19 we saw the rig below in the Walmart parking lot in Brookings, SD and later out on I-29 .... from the sound of its exhaust, the tow vehicle is an older Dodge .... got a good look and it is a 2500 ....the 5er is a Puma, best guess 30+ footer .... best guess on the pontoon boat, 25+ foot .... the thing that really caught my eye is the small tires on the boat trailer .... tires I'd expect to see on a jet ski trailer .... shortly after getting back on I-29 they passed us and moved right on down the road .... we were doing 64 mph, the speed limit is 80 .... he was traveling much closer to 80 than he was to 65

Re: Interesting Rig
If this fellow had to hit his brakes and cut down his high speed quickly, I wonder how all the tow would go
But he sure has most everything you need for a home-away-from-home. Or maybe this is home.....
Cool photos, Jim.

Re: Interesting Rig
his truck and camper brakes should work together ... doubt the boat trailer has any
Re: Interesting Rig
I hope he knows how to back up a double tow.

Re: Interesting Rig
No kidding there, Gunny. When I and my wife moved from near Portland, OR to Ames, IA in the early 2000s, I drove a 24' Ryder truck and towed my full-sized Chrysler Concorde loaded on a trailer. I didn't know how to back up this single tow. (Why they let me rent that rig is beyond me!). The total length of the rig was close to the length of a semi-trailer, as I parked once side-by-side a semi at a gas station.
What I always tried to do was park with leaving myself a "forward escape route." Gratefully for that +2000-mile trip, I only got caught once at a hotel parking lot. Forward trail was blocked, and I was stuck. While we were eating breakfast, a truck driver overheard my wife and I chatting on how to get out of our predicament. He walked over and offered to "set us free."

Re: Interesting Rig
Kinda looks like a tire blowout waiting to happen with that load and those speeds. Pontoon boats aren't that heavy, but still seems like an undersized trailer overall, not to mention the kiddie-sized tires!

Re: Interesting Rig
Brother in law had a bigger pontoon boat than that and smaller tires. Im not one to tow at a high rate of speed 65 is plenty fast for me. Blow outs on RVS arent real nice on the RV.

Re: Interesting Rig
in several states it is .... sadly, a driver can be perfectly legal in his/her home state and illegal in an adjoining state .... in South Dakota triple towing is legal and their maximum length is 80'
