Re: Saddle Knife
It's just a real good little all purpose knife. Came in handy at a branding last spring when a horse knocked over a large steel corral panel he was tied to. One quick swipe with the knife and that lead rope was toast. Horse free, no wreck and all good.

is that a Damascus blade in your knife ..RanchRoper wrote:I've not heard the terminology of saddle knife but I suspect it's similar to this one I carry. Most horsemen/women carry one. Handy as heck.

Re: Saddle Knife
1095 hi carbon steel. Etching is done in a coal forge. Blade hardened to 58 Rockwell as per the website for Pine Ridge Knife Company. Stout knife, and razor sharp. I always have it with me. Horseback I have it on my chaps belt, and also pack a Bowie if I'm in the backcountry. Can't have too many knives!

I ended up buying a fixed blade Buck knife. Made in the U.S.A.

Re: Saddle Knife
My daughter carries that small knife I made her years ago everywhere around the farm. On the belt when she's on the ground, on her boot top when riding.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
