Punkin' Plunkin'...
Well not real punkin's but a little competition target for another forum I'm on. Plus some regular shooting at 50 & 100 yds.
25 yds off hand on an 8x10 sheet of paper
Pedersoli Frontier .50 rifle
50 gns Triple 7
.480 ball
.015 patch
Some 50 yds off hand work, pulling right a few times lately, working on correcting the problem....
100 yds off hand, again pulling right....darn annoying but it's all me not the rifle...
65F and no wind in October is nothing to complain about though, shoot safe, RR

Re: Punkin' Plunkin'...
I bought a nice little AR500 steel spinner to shoot next week. Lots of times I am the only guy there, and all winter I'm always the only guy there. Can't wait to try it at 100 yds.

RR... think you are ready for some real pumpkin carving with that smoke stick! Great shooting man!
Re: Punkin' Plunkin'...
How Big? Once you try that you will be hooked. I love shooting steel and those 54 cal balls really move the steel around.RanchRoper wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 5:45 pmI bought a nice little AR500 steel spinner to shoot next week. Amazing, as always.
Question: do you blacken that front sight the old fashioned way with some soot, using a match?

Re: Punkin' Plunkin'...
What caliber is that spinner rated for? One good hit with that smokin lead launcher will have it spinning for a week!

Re: Punkin' Plunkin'...
Just says pistols and rifles. It’s heavy steel for sure. We’ll see how she goes.
1/4”. But the velocity at 100 yds on the round ball or even 45 Colt would be low I would think. If I destroy it, we’ll that’s fun too.

Re: Punkin' Plunkin'...
That spinner will require video, not just pics. To see someone hit that spinner solid with a smoke pole just standing there - from 100 yards would be awesome. BTW - AR500 steel will stand up very well to your equipment. I got 3/8" steel - can't even ding it, but our 2 foot square gong doesn't ring like it should. You'll get a real cool "bing" when you hit it with that round ball. Should have got 1/4 like you.
BigAl52 is right - you'll really like that piece of steel. My 90 year old father in law loves hitting that big gong out there at 100 yards. Makes him grin.
Side note - Know what the difference between in-laws and out-laws is? Outlaws are wanted. <---- Sorry - couldn't help myself.

I think we need to have a contest and guess how many times Ranchroper can hit that spinner out at 100 yards with 10 shots taken. What ye say

Be sure to put the cam behind plexiglass. Just because. And maybe don’t run. I never run with scissors or firearms. The last four words of that sentence are not needed.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 2:54 pmCome on RR.... set your video cam up close hit the button and run like heck back to your firing line and calmly take a shot!![]()
