Just My Luck

Wanted to add a braided Beaded lace to the quilted sheath I made for the new knife I just finished for an accent. I was sure I had the silver barrel beads in my supplies, but I was wrong. Hobby Lobby was having a big sale, and Miss T had already been once. I asked if she wanted to ride with me while I picked up some beads for the project. I didn't have to ask twice.
I also wanted to pick up a second dremel tool to use for polishing the metal parts on the knife builds, as Miss T had picked up a flex shaft for me a month or so ago. It's great, works like a champ, but is a pain to put on and take off.
With a second dremel I could set it up and leave it hanging on the assembly bench. Ended up having to go to Home Depot for that. While we were there, Miss T told me to look at the benchtop drill presses, as I have a LARGE drill press in the shop, but to drill the holes on small projects, like the holes in sheaths or holsters for hand sewing, I have to stand at the big press. With the bench top press I could SIT at the bench and do those. I'd still need the big press to drill hardened steel, or drill things clamped to the drill press and drilled at high speed with the carbide bits.
Picked up everything on the list, got home and had lunch them went out to the shop to start the set up. I opened the sealed dremel, and ...
... the box had been RE-sealed with hot glue. Inside the box was an old, beat up dremel, a larger older model than the pencil thin model I had purchased. The cord had been cut AT the dremel and stripped back for testing. The cord was cut, stripped, twisted together at the power converter/plug end and taped. It was also cut in two other places. Missing from the box was the accessory packet.
I took the box and receipt back to HD and told the gal in Customer Service I was not happy. They had been the subject of a fraud, and I had been been the victim as well. I tilted the box, and said, "I bought this a couple hours ago, and I don't think it's supposed to look like that."
She looked stunned and told me to go get another box off the shelf and we'd check the new box together before I left. I pocketed my receipt and walked back to the tool section and found another like I had purchased and back to the front. The manager was there looking at my return, and had called the associate who had accepted the return the previous day. I pointed out the line of hot glue on the box, and again pointed out that the accessory pack was missing, and the dremel in the box was the wrong dremel and looked years old.
The associate said, "She looked very suspect, but I had to take the return, she had a receipt." Then, she turned to the manager and said, "She returned TWO Items..."
They both took off into the store....
The customer service lady opened the box and we checked it together. All was well in dremel world with this one. I told her as long as the Drill Press looked good when I opened it tomorrow, I'm golden....
Not the first time, probably won't be the last.
