Love what you've done with your place! But I have to tell you that I got a touch of vertigo from that top down picture of the wiring.

Re: Track Lights
I worked on patching the ceiling yesterday. The first step is to cut a 1x4” board about a foot long and place it in the hole.
Then put two screws into the sheet rock in the ceiling and then into the plugs that were removed.
I saved the pieces taken out and they will fit back in perfectly.
I have more time in taking the pictures and posting than I do thus far.
I still have one more screw and then of course the mudding.

Most people put on too much and then have a lot of sanding to do. I put just enough on and instead of sanding I wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Re: Track Lights
The ceiling doesn’t have much texture and the walls will be spray textured when it’s painted which I plan to do this summer. What I can’t do is brush or roll the touchup.

Ya, can't brush paint mud even after it's dry. The paint will rewet the mud and the brush will smear it. But it can be roller painted one swipe, starting outside patch area rolling over the patched spot. This one pass seals the mud. Just make sure to not let the roller skid and don't pivot the roller going over the patched spot. After letting the paint dry it can be roller painted again normally.

Re: Track Lights
I did some filling today. I estimate it will take me three fills to get it right. The picture was taken when it was still wet. The gaps now are much lighter.
When it’s completely dry I’ll take a damp cloth over the excess and then fill the gaps in again.
