Your Hometown Demographics

Post by Sir Henry » Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:57 pm

I’ve made a few posts about where I live and thought I would post more information here in hopes others will post demographics about where they live. I’m posting about the Town of Hill which is a voting precinct.

Basically the 366 residents in 35 square miles are poor white married males that don’t commit crimes. The average household income is only $37K. The town is 98.63% white with 63.8% married. For every 100 females there are 122 males. Even though income is low the % of the population below the poverty level is also low. Crime is 23.6 on a scale of 100 which is very low.

The cost of living here is also low at about 83% of the national average. I think it’s even lower than that if you factor in the full effect of the cost of housing. They only figure in home value and not the fact that most of the 100 (actual count) households own their homes with no mortgage payment.

So where do you live? Try and narrow it down to voting precincts or community rather than say just a city. If you feel adding county information would give a contrast to your smaller stats please do so. I didn’t because the entire county here is similar to the Town of Hill.

Use the link in my first post and search for your town or voting precinct. But you can also do a google search as often specific areas have their own sites. And the are also FBI crime sites and even housing sites like Zillow.

When I moved from Washington to Wisconsin I did hundreds if not a thousand hours searching. I searched for 2-4 hours daily for about 2 years then 16-20 hours the last 6 months before finding this place. And that I’m here I can’t stop searching.

I’ll come back later and enter the data as it’s time to watch the local news.

Let me put it this way: I live well on 20 forested acres with a fixed income of approx $42k annual, with $$ to spare for guns and ammo. :)

Okay, so the real town nearest us about 30 minutes away, population 16,000...

White 55%
Black 5%
Native 17%
Asian 2%
Pacific 1%
Hispanic 8%
Other 8%

Our closest town, which we live about a mile outside of, is an actual ghost town since the oil boom was killed by politicians...

Population 250 in the 2024 survey, down from 300 in the 2020 census...

White. 64%
Native. 31%
Mixed. 5%
Asian. 1%
Black 0%
Pacific. 0%
Other 0%

We live outside this small town which has NO businesses, no admin office, the only public buildings are a small limited service post office and a very small metal community meeting building just constructed. Town admin business is conducted once a week, by appointment, at the home of the administrator.

That's a small town.
We are county residents.

Rural TV. Immediate vicinity population, about 11.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tualatin_Valley
The valley is traversed by the Tualatin River and is bordered on the north and east by the Tualatin Mountains, a spur of the Northern Oregon Coast Range. The latter range also comprises the valley's western border. To the south lie the Chehalem Mountains, separating the region from the main Willamette Valley

We reside in Madison county TN, which is the home of the second largest city in Western TN pop. 68,000+, and is located near the center of this section of the state. We are about half way between the two largest cities of the state Memphis to the SW and Nashville the state capital NE of us.
We are in the SE part of the county and about 10-12 miles from the city limits. Pretty quiet area, thank goodness.
I grew up on the southside of town just outside the city limits, moved there the Summer of '68. I have lived out here for nearly half my life, now.

Our home address is in Willow Spring, NC which is just south of Raleigh in Wake County. Willow Spring includes 857.26 square miles. The resident population of Wake County is 627,846 which ranks of 85 out of all the places in the United States.

Willow Spring itself has a total of 8,926 people and of those residents there are 4,538 males and 4,388 females. The median age of the male population is 31.9 and the female population is 32.4. There are approximately 10,198 births each year and around 3,249 deaths. The race breakdown of the population in Willow Spring varies per year, but currently 8,856 are one race and 70 are two or more races.

Of the 8,926 people who live in Willow Spring, there are 2,657 under 20 years old. The sex breakdown of the 20 years old and younger population in Willow Spring is 1,369 male and 1,288 female. If you have children or you are under the age of 20, then you will be considered in that statistic. For those of you who are older, then you will be part of the population that is 18 years and older and totals 6,443.

Bottom line, we are a bedroom community for Raleigh. Migration from higher tax states north of us is hard to believe. We have well over a thousand new homes going up within mile diameter circle around our home. We are growing much faster than our utilities can handle and, sadly, that doesn't appear to be dropping any time soon.
