yesterday I loaded 50 rounds for our Model 94 and plan to load 50 more later this week .... just as a bit of info, I'm finding the Nosler/Winchester Combined Technology 150 gr Ballistic Silvertip shoots really well in ours .... shown below on the left is the old style Winchester 30-30 Silvertip that I don't believe is still being manufactured ... on the right is today's CT 150 Ballistic Silvertip

What a drama, virtually no availabiliy of ammo here in 30-30, no one stocks it. Even the dies etc took a week of hassle to get hold of. Then bullets were an equal drama. Seems 30-30 is very rare here and just found that all the go to powders have been banned in Europe due to carcinogenic concerns. A huge amount of the Hodgdon powders are now unavailable. I will get there eventually but it seems I should have bought a different calibre. Did get hold of forty rounds of PPU soft points to try but the load was extremely hot, a bit disconcerting and was like shooting an old lee enfield .303. Decent groups considering my inexperience with this rifle but everything was shooting high even when sights were at the lowest setting. I will wait until I start my own ha dloads before worrying about that though, I intend to shoot a heavier bullet in lead with a lower load so hopefully POI may come down a bit.

Hi all, update today. Shooting at a range in the mountains this morning with wind speed gusting to 70 mph and freezing cold, not ideal but layered up with thermals put a target out to fifty yards and managed to get three shot group in the bull of just over one inch, same ammo, just the light outside was much better than the tunnels where I shoot indoors. Only thing is the factory loads I had wre very hot, definitely not something you would want to shoot much of, looking dorward now to loading my own and finding aomething a little less brutal for plinking. Love the rifle though, was a gamble buying by photograph but it looks very clean for an early seventies one with a good bore and mechanically very nice.

Hi Henry
Very funny butbyes, the rifle is a joy. Having some issues ammo wise (see reloading section) , shot very high with factory 150 gn at first until I lowrered the sight right down and then from 25-50 yds was bang on, made some handloads and now everything is shooting way low and beyond the adjustment levels of the aights at 25 yds! Ah well, its all a discovery but I would forgive it everything, just fit like an old slipper!
