Good shooting, Gene. I also like tube fed 22 rifles for the same reason. I load them up in the house and then step outside and shoot till they are empty. In cold weather, doesn't take me long.

Tube feeds are great especially shooting shorts. With shorts you can load on Sunday and shoot all month. During the Obama ammo shortage I bought two cases of Aguila HV shorts. I only have about 1,500 rounds left and have been conserving them for the past few years and switched to SV LR.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 9:18 pmGood shooting, Gene. My one Mare’s Leg really liked the shorts especially at 15 yards.

Re: Range Report: back to plinking
I load up our Remington 550-1 with Shorts all the time, but being one of the few semi-autos that can shoot and cycle Shorts, I still go through ammo way too quick. That old Remington is amazing. It even shoots and cycles CB Shorts. It makes a great backyard plinker. Bill inherited ours from his father. I use a Skinner dovetail mount and a 2x pistol scope on ours. Works great. The last 550-1s did have grooved receivers, though.

A couple of 444's out of the model P this morning.
Was trying to catch the flash, but to much light outside.

Is a 444 like shooting two .22’s at once.

I think you might be thinking of the 44
And the 444 out performs the 44 quite a bit depending how it's loaded.
I will say I was quite impressed with the light recoil and that load this morning with a 300 gr Hdy xtp.
