Have been back and forth with JEB, and it looks like we have a great window for a get-together in the KC area the week of August 12th.
Obviously there are lots of details to be worked out, but here's a DRAFT of how it might unfold:
Wed, 8/14: Attendees arrive in time for dinner. KC BBQ, of course!
Thur, 8/15: Range Day, lunch somewhere, R&R time, followed by KC Royals vs. St. Louis Cardinals (in town for a 2-game series).
Fri, 8/16: Potential Range Day #2 (depending on preferences, maybe a different range?), lunch TBD and afternoon departures.
If you're even remotely interested, please send me a PM and I'll start a list. Lots of details to be figured out, from shooting venues to accommodations to game tickets to restaurants.
For those of you who might do this as part of a bigger/longer visit to the area, here's a link to the KC Visitor's Site:

More to come!

Now that we've surrounded the "WHEN" part of it, the next big thing is "WHERE" will we go for some shooting fun. As some of you may be aware, PT7's son-in-law is a competitive long range shooter, a Henry owner, a police firearms trainer and all around great guy. He also happens to own and run a fantastic outdoor range on his property, and he's adding to its features, bells and whistles all the time.
We'll likely do about a five-hour visit (late AM/Lunch/early PM), with lots of details to be worked out. We'd do this on either Wednesday or Thursday, as noted above, depending on arrival times, etc.
Here's the link to the facility, but I believe he's added quite a few amenities that aren't even listed yet.

In addition, PT's daughter operates a small AirBnB facility on the property and has a townhouse in North KC that might work out for some.
PM me if interested in more details or if you think you might be able to make it.

Yep, very high-touch, not just some RSO barking at you for hours. Vic's a great guy and very knowledgeable and generous with his time.

In Metro KC, there are two Mo Dept of Conservation ranges, and the one known as Parma Woods is about 73 miles from Hamilton. The other one, north of Blue Springs, is about 75 miles away. So, "in the area"? Not really.
Hamilton is beautiful countryside, but fairly remote.

All the more reason they could use a mounted deputy marshal...

It's a mixed bag, but there seem to be fair number of old hippies in the ranks. At least that's the photographic impression.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Evan, count me in. I will be at Red Rocks the night of the 12th. Joe Bonamassa concert.
And then? Head East! I haven't driven across Kansas in decades.
Looking like a good plan coming together. Thanks for your work.

Oh, man! Bonamassa at Red Rocks?!?!? I should fly out and join you!
Glad to hear you're going to make the trip!
Tell all your Henry friends!

Yeah, when talking of ill repute descriptions, those high plains cowboys take second place to none!

And I have friends in Gardner.

Slight wrinkle to this gathering, but the owner of Home On The Range has decided to focus his efforts on professional training, so isn't really entertaining any group outings such as ours this year.
The good news is the oft-discussed Missouri Dept Of Conservation has a great facility on the east side of KC, not far from the "Lake City Ammo Plant" you all have probably heard of. The rifle range is closed for reno/repair right now, but opens in about a month. The facility has pistol, rifle, archery and shotgun facilities, so if anyone want to shoot some clays, bring it on!
More to come, as always, but here's the link to the MDC Range Website:

Bummer Evan, at least you have the other option.
