I’m about ready to switch my main .22LR ammo that I shoot.

The Federal is almost gone but more importantly the Norma Match-22 is gone. I have 50 rounds left out of two cases. I have a few bricks of the RWS Target Rifle and a full case of the SK Standard Plus. The Norma TAC-22 will be my new norm as I have three cases of it left. It shoots just like the Match-22.

That RWS Target stuff that you gave us as a gift on your visit was great stuff. Thanks, again. It's gone, now, but we may try to find some more. That's the problem with high grade match ammo. Not always easy to find in our area.

Try SK Standard Plus. It is made by Lapua, doesn't break the bank, and it is extremely accurate. What's not to like.

I got spoiled on good ammo. I’m not all that great of a shot but the ammo makes me look good.

During the last shortage good ammo was always available but at a high price. But high end stuff did not go up as much as the lesser grade ammo. Near the end the high end ammo was only a cent or two above the lower grade.

Whats wrong with Remington Golden bullets ?

I think most .22's feel the same, but the shootin' can be totally different.

Nothing. They are my favorite bullet when I just need to be within a foot of my target.

The European ammo is coated with what feels like grease. When I handle the ammo I try not to remove any yet my hands always end up greasy.

Actually, there was a time, back in the day, when Remington Goldens and, especially, their target 22 LR ammo, was considered higher end stuff. Shot a ton of the Golden Bullets when I was a youngster.

Problem with the Goldens, these last ten years or so, has been the consistency, one box to the next. Most of the time it shoots okay in our 22 LRs, though not as good as other HV ammo like Mini mags or the Federal HV Match. Some batches, though, are pretty bleak. Overall, no better than some bulk ammo like the Automatch as far as accuracy. We bought a bunch of the Goldens during the big rimfire ammo crunch because it was all we could find, sometimes. Need to shoot it up, but now that we can get any kind of 22 LR we want, haven't gotten around to it.

Yes, the SK is very oily/greasy. I know most .22 ammunition is lubricated to some extent, but I think Lapua might have shares in an oil company. I haven't really noticed it to such an extent on any of the other brands I've used, but we probably don't have the same amount of choice here that you do over the other side of the pond.

I have some golden Bullet shorts that are about 20 years old. They are accurate for a HV short.

Good choice with the Norma Tac-22. Accurate, repeatable and priced right. Norma match 22 is suppose to be superior - but I find it is lacking somewhat. If your rifle likes Tac-22 stay with that, Match -22 won't be an improvement. But that's just my opinion.
