I am very interested in seeing the new Henry in 35 Remington. I emailed them on more than one occasion asking for 35 Remington. Since they answered our requests I think maybe I need to seriously consider buying one. I have a 1972 Marlin 336 in 35 and I like it a lot.

Hope to see pics and range reports when members here get them.

I felt the same way about the Henry H009 (30/30), since I had the Marlin 30/30 (336) for years as well. I liked the tube feed, alittle more in weight, the ballard rifling. To my surprise, it's more accurate (H009). As it stands now, the Marlin is my spare 30/30. IMO, the ballard rifling is a big plus for the accuracy, I don't remember if the ROT is the same in both rifles. Keep us POSTED, my friend.

With the .35 Rem getting its foot in the door (nose in the tent, etc. ), maybe we'll see that caliber as an option in other centerfire models soon. Great strategy by Henry to introduce the loading gate model in a couple of cartridges we've been clamoring for, though .

Henry is a 12 twist, Marlin is 10 except for the XLR that is a 12 twist Ballard rifling.

Love my 35's, got a pair of Marlins a '60, and a '75 that I had shortened to 16.5", and
a Savage pump.
Don't really see a need for another, even though an octagon barreled one would be cool.

I bought a brand new 336 in .35Remington just a couple of years ago.
I had heard the Remlin quality had improved from the takeover fiasco, so thought I would give them a try.
I really wanted a .35Remington, and the Marlin did not disappoint.

It is actually very slick, quick handling, and accurate.
I like it a lot, and even took 2 doe in about 4 seconds with it a couple of years ago.

That said, I've been eyeing the new side-gate Henry in .35.
I may have to sell the Marlin to fund the Henry, but I think it would be a good trade-off.

Mgderf, I checked out a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem last year in Idaho Falls. Brand new and slick as a whistle. It was really nice rifle. But, my heart was set on a .45 Colt. Henry. Which I bought.

Well, I just went and looked.
Looks like I'll be holding on to the Marlin for quite a while.
I had no idea the side gate Henry's were upwards of 1
$1k.

That's a bit too steep for my wallet.

the $1K is a MSRP .... once they get out there in significant numbers, the real world price will be considerably less

Northern Firearms on GB has the 38-55 for 829.00 with free shipping. I bet when the 35 hits the shelves it will be priced the same.

MSRP and actual prices are often two entirely different matters.

I'm going to call one of the lgs in the morning he usually stocks some Henrys.
See what he will be asking.
My biggest turn off is the checkering, don't care for the henry name on the forearm.
Hopefully if they make a steel version it won't be as gawdy.

I'm not fond of words in the checking either. With these in the caliber I want, I would not like it, but would overlook it.

To each there own and I get it. I didnt care for the Evil Roy in the butt stock of that 22. But this really isnt that bad once you see it in person. I think I can live with it. Just wanted the 38-55 model.

This is a topic near and dear to this old gray beard's heart. The .35 is a most capable round within its limits... 150 yards, with Hornady's Leverrevolution ammo.

The inclination by some is to stretch the distance by using a lighter projectile. This is an excersize in foolishness. The only commercially loaded 150 I know of is the Remington CorLokt which will not expand reliabily. Don't ask me how I know.

At any rate, I also "need" a Henry .35 simply because it's my favorite rifle caliber. I fully intended to take on home a few weeks ago, alas, the shop had not the first .35, so I walked out with a Long Ranger .308. A beautiful, well crafted firearm. Makes me want the .35 that much more. In my opinion, everyone needs at least one.

Welcome to the forum Spin Dr let us know when you score on the 35. I think Henry will sell a bunch of those there is a fair amount of interest in that round.

These new side loaders interest me too, and I've been a fan of the 35 Remington for years, so I might just have to try to track one down!
