Question about leather loop wraps

I know some of you use leather stock sheaths and lever loop wraps. I was thinking about trying a leather loop wrap on the new LLL I have on my H001. I was concerned, however, that it might promote corrosion on the steel. Any problems ya'll have experienced? I know that some leathers are tanned with Chrome, and some with vegetable oil. I was thinking about picking up some leather lacing from a hobby store, but I'm assuming that this is probably chrome tanned. I don't want to ruin the lever with a decorative addition.

In my case the finish on my LLL was already bad. I think mine came from a less than perfect lot. The finish actually flaked a little. So I added a loop cover that came with my stock cover.

There is no good place to finish the wrap with the excess to the rear. So I laced rear to front. The latigo tassel is actually out of the way in the front of the leather.

I had one on a rifle and didn't like the feel of it so I took it off. But that was just one wrap. I do like the looks of them.

It feels good on the large loop. I think on a standard loop it would make the opening a little tight for your hand.

I'll try mine once it arrives. It might make the lever too small, I agree.

But, has anyone had problems with corrosion from the wraps?

I sold this gun a few year ago and never seen any rust in the 16 yrs I shot in SASS/CAS matches . The was reason for the wrap on this gun to fill in the gap for faster levering the gun in a match .

Leather and steel get along but leather and brass doesn't.

This is what I did with some leather remnants I got at a Hobby/Craft store to my Golden Boy:

There is a video on YouTube somewhere that shows how to wrap it.

That riser on the buttstock looks like it does the trick.
