Happy Easter,
I’ve been noticing pictures of Henry’s 30-30 steel with foregrip that have a band around them like the brass model. When did Henry stop making these for the steel version and can they still be found like that?

They do look nice and unique but Don’t those bands hurt accuracy sometimes?

I think the first rendition of the Henry lever action 30-30 had a forend barrel band, it was soon replaced by the model with the current barrel and stock configuration, but with the ghost ring peep sight as standard, now the rifle wears conventional barrel mounted rear sights. I like the forend iron with the swivel stud of the current version, it looks a bit better to me, and could eliminate barrel pressure that might affect accuracy. But I doubt it would matter too much

That’s what I was suspecting. They are good looking rifles either way. The lack of a band is not going to keep me from getting the 30-30 soon

Barrel Bands are considered by some to cause barrel creep as the barrel heats up, more so than End Caps.
If it's a hunting rifle it probaly not an issue. One shot one kill and all that.
If it's a competion rifle, like shooting forty to sixty rounds then there may be an issue.
One thing ive done to help mitagate the issue useing my 357 Big Boy Brass is to use sub-sonic loads. They don't heat the barrel up very fast and it can cool between rounds.

about swivel studs. check these out at Brass Stacker. They slip over and attach to the studs already on your rifle and rotate 360. The 360 rotation helps prevent the studs from loosing/striping in the wood. Watch the videos to see how they work.

Thanks for the link. It looks like a good idea. I am a little concerned at the bulk of the individual unit. Clunky?

Nope, that at all. I have the tube clamp version on my H009B. And will be ordering a sling with the stud version for my H014.
