Incredible High Condition Cased Winchester Henry Lever Action Rifle.

For auction, March 01, 2018, estimated to sell for $60,000 to $80,000.....!
“Manufactured 1862. While it is true that finding a Henry is not the real issue in collecting, it is finding a 100% clean, untouched, unmessed with example that still has condition and has never been altered in any way or sense. This is such an example.”
The screws are unmolested (virginal slots) and the gun appears to have never been apart.

Yep - pretty incredible. I am surprised a letter of authenticity is not mentioned.

When you get to this level of collector interest, it will bring a lot of scrutiny as to authenticity. Have a local range pal who is regarded, highly, in the Winchester collector community and he's told me stories as to how gifted some folks are at reconditioning these old Winchesters. Given the values of these old Winchesters, there's an enormous amount of fraud at this level of collectibility.
All the 1860s were rimfire. It wasn't until the 1873, "the gun that won the west", that centerfire cartridges were introduced.

Yep - I remember watching a show a few years ago where a guy claimed he had an original 1836 Colt that had the locals on the show ‘on the fence’ over it - including the experts from Colt who ultimately traveled to inspect it personally and only then was it revealed to be a ‘fake’ - and then only by dimensions - otherwise appearance and markings looked original.
