Picked up Henry Big Boy Carbine in .41 Magnum over the weekend. Shot well, but rifle more accurate than me! Much fun!

Congrats on the new Henry! I agree this is just too much fun.

The top photo is a good bit out of proportion. When you upload photos if it is possible try to select an image size of around 400 X 800 pixels.

I have heard so much praise for the 41 magnum that it makes me want one.

Curiosity.. what made you choose the 41? Intriguing but often overlooked caliber.

Will check in the reloading posts for what loads folks are using for their .41 Magnums.
I chose the .41 magnum as it is a caliber not too many have heard of. I bought a pre-owned S&W Model 57 revolver a few months ago from someone selling at my shooting range knowing it was more a reloaders caliber as I have never seen the factory loads in a gun store. I have really enjoyed it which led me to get the Henry in .41 once I found they were making it. I have always wanted a lever action since I was a kid (Rifleman, Chuck Connors) so the .41 was a perfect match.
I am reloading reduced loads for the M57, which I also used the first time with the Henry. Used 215gr LSWC (old stock Suter's choice), starline brass, Winchester large primers, 7.2 grains Unique, oal 1.580", light roll crimp with Lee crimp die. Cycled and shot well. Have a batch of the same but with 8.0 grains of Unique for the next test.
I do have Starline brass in .41 special shooting using either 6.0 grains of Unique or also between 4.5 and 5.5 of Titegroup. I emailed Henry and they have not tested with .41 special cartridge. I may be safe and research first some more before I try.
Maybe later will be tempted to try more full power with 2400, no. 7 or 9 powder.
I will let you know how my next session at range goes.

I've found that they work really well in both our 44 Mag and 45-70 Henry rifles (also in our 44 mag Redhawk) .... as you can see, they are available from Cabela's and I'm sure from many other sources .... the Cowboy Actions are really fun to shoot and with a 41 the Bear Loads aren't bad at all .... if you try them and they work well, you might want to think about as a pattern for building your reloads

Congrats on the 41. I have several and without a doubt its my favorite caliber. I have the full size BBS and Im waiting to see what might be coming from Henry. I have heard rumblings of CCH and octagon barrels. I know the brass is coming in 41 soon. I have several pistols in 41 including a Freedom Arms. I know you will enjoy that 41. Al

I cant believe you dont have one already. Go ahead take the plunge grab a 41 and join the cult following. We need more 41 talk on this forum.

Thanks for joining, welcome, and nice revolver and rifle combination! I am using very similar loads in my Big Boy and Super Blackhawks, using Starline brass and WLP primers, but Red Dot powder. I am using 200gr RNFP cast and plated bullets getting the same accuracy and point of impact with either. The light loads are fun in the revolvers and rifle. The Lee factory crimp die works great, particularly with the plated that require a light to medium crimp.

I think the .41, .44, .357, .45, and .45-70 are all way better and more versatile if you hand load. I've had my Big Boy for 6 years and other than my own loads, it has had maybe a handful of factory loads thru it on one range session right after I purchased it.

Took the .41 carbine to the range today and fired 215 gr LSWC with 8.0 grains of Unique.
My range is indoors and maxes out to only 50 feet.
My best 10 shot group of the night freehand.
The Rifle is way more accurate than I am!

congrats on your Henry .... I well understand having firearms that are capable of smaller groups than they shoot with my finger on the trigger .... I actually wouldn't want one that didn't have that capability .... as a side note, I really enjoy sending a round down range that leaves a big hole in the target

Congrats on the Henry. Mine likes enough Accurate #9 to push a 225 RNFP coated bullet 1600 fps. I get the bullets from Missouri Bullet Co. Not a max load but it works well.
