With all the new models and calibers Henry has been coming out with, I sure do wish a 35 Remington would be in their plans.

At the Marlinowners forum, there is a strong contingent of 35 Remington fans, all of whom are very frustrated that there are no new "real" Marlins being made these days. As for the cartridge, pretty much anything the 30-30 can do, the 35 can do better. While factory ammo is a bit pricey, and can sometimes be scarce, it is easy to reload, and doesn't cost much once you have the components.

Those 200 grain bullets from a 35 are real thumpers, and are renowned by hunters for dropping deer, bear, elk, moose, all DRT.

If Henry were to make a 35, I'd be one of the first in line to get one.

A 35 Remington and a 444 Marlin would be nice. I personally would prefer a pistol grip model which I know most don't prefer pistol grip levers. Pistol grip with the case colored receiver would get me to order one.

Seems to me I read a thread somewhere that this guy sent Anthony a letter requesting this caliber and he was considering it.

The issue with the 35 Remington is, as you say, ammo availability. The 35 tends to be very regional in popularity. Have a friend in New England that tells me 35 Remington ammo is available, everywhere, even at gas stations. Over here in the north woods of Wisconsin, though, the 30-30 rules and I only rarely see any 35 Remington ammo on the shelf.

Not trying to start an argument and, yes, the 35 Remington is a great cartridge, but the 30-30 does have some advantages. The 35 can't do everything better. Both cartridges have something different to offer. Okay, that's my two cents.

I think I sent him an email about it awhile back, but I don't recall his answer sounded too promising. Got a nice camping mug and a warm knit hat, though.

Here in the Fox Valley, the big box stores usually have it, but it costs 2X the price of 30-30. I bought a few boxes for the brass, got the dies, and reloading it is not much more expensive than 30-30. My 336 is a tack driver with handloads.

If someone other than Remington would make new 35's, Ammo would get cheaper and easier to get.

Hornady makes the 200 gummy tip LEVERevolution and I see a good many boxes of the Federal 200 gr. Power-Shok in the blue and black box in our area. Only a couple dollars more than the 30-30 in the same brands.

way back (OK, way, way back ) when I was in high school and hunted bear with my grandfather he carried a Winchester Model 94 30-30 .... back then there simply were the range of big game hunting calibers that are available today ... I well remember the debates in the lodge (meaning old, old house) on 30-30 vs 35 .... eventually, 30-36 and 308 were added to the conversation .... most of the fellows who had 30-30's had Winchesters and the 35's were Marlins .... it was kind of like a Chevy vs Ford "discussion" .... I have fired a 35 but since my grandfather favored a 30-30 I did as well .... when the time came for me to buy what I considered to be a "reach out and touch" something I went with a BLR 308 and never gave any further thought to a 35 .... how would one stack up with a 41 or 45 Colt ?

35 Remington vs. 41 or 45 Colt? No comparison. The latter are pistol cartridges. A 35 Remington goes almost as fast as a 30-30, but with a .358 caliber 200 grain bullet. It's got a LOT of energy.

makes sense, about all I remember about a 35 is it had a pretty heavy bark to go with its kick

It's actually more of a "push" than a kick. Kinda like how a .40 cal. pistol is snappy, but a .45 acp gives more of a push.

interesting .... at one time I owned a Colt Commander 911 chambered for 45 .... didn't keep it, we didn't get along

A Colt Commander? Shorter barrel and aluminum (?) frame... probably is a bit snappier than a full sized steel 1911.

that would be it .... no fun for me to shoot .... should have bought the 9 mm instead
