Post by Jason » Sat Mar 07, 2026 5:05 am

I just got a 17hmr lever action. book says it holds 10 in the tube, but when I load 10 in the first one gets stuck, when I load 6 or less it does fine
Can I fix this problem my self or send it in

What Sir Henry said. Lever even slightly unnoticed open, can cause problems. Also, the mag tube spring under a lot of compression can cause the lever to slightly pop open, allowing that first round to slip partially into the receiver. Try holding the lever closed when loading the mag tube. (not that it matters, but my manual says it holds 11 rounds). You can also try exercising the mag tube spring multiple times with a long rod or wooden dowel; all the way until it bottoms out.
