Had to send my H024 30-30 back to Henry

Post by undy » Mon Dec 23, 2024 8:00 pm

Sad to say I had to send my H024 30-30 back to Henry today. I was at the outdoor range this morning trying to sight my Henry in after installing a barrel mounted Skinner peep sight. I only fired two rounds. The bolt locked up solid in the receiver when I tried to eject the second round's empty casing. The lever would not move at all. I tried everything I could to no avail, including removing the lever. I called Henry and they jumped right on my problem. Within a few minutes I had a pre-paid UPS shipping label in my email inbox. Terrific service! I packaged it up and off it went. With all the upcoming Holidays I don't expect it back for a while. Just out of curiosity, any thoughts?

FWIW, I was using top-o-the-line ammo, Hornady 150gr White Tail. I've only run about 40 rounds through it.

It all depends on if they shut down for a period of time for the holidays like some companies do. Otherwise I bet you will have it back in less than 2 weeks.

No worries, they will have it back right after the first of the year fixed and ready to go. Hard telling without seeing it first hand on what locked it up.

We're "Snowbirds" and have 2 homes that we live in, SW Florida and Virginia Beach, VA. We're in our Florida home right now and will be leaving for our Virginia home on the 19th of January. Henry advised us to put "ship to Virginia" on our warranty due to the holidays and shipping delays. I'll monitor tracking (due now to arrive at Henry on 1/2/2025) and will contact Henry after it arrives to ensure a Virginia delivery is still valid. I DO NOT want it to go to the wrong address.

I didn’t think they could ship to any address that was not the exact same address as it was shipped from.

Per my post, I'll call them when it arrives at Henry, NOT when it's repaired and shipped to me. I'm well aware of USPS's shipping rules.

Henry advised me that it won't ship out before 1/19/2025.

Quick, I suppose, is a relative term. Some suppressor waits are over a year; we guys who get them between 6 months and a year jump for joy, but the guys who get a 24-hour approval make us 6 months to a year guys feel sad.

I've had a Colt trooper mkIII at Colt for more than 18 months once.

I recently had a broken firing pin in a Big Boy Brass 357magnum with no sidegate. Dropped off 12/3/2024 at local lgs/ gunsmith and they shipped it to Henry (I live in New Jersey, very unfriendly gun laws). Picked up at lgs after repair on 12/20/2024. I thought that was a fast turnaround time for repair and shipping this time of year.
