I made a trade last week for my first Henry and am very happy with it so far. It’s a 357 Big Boy Mare’s leg built in the spring of this year. It did not see much use from the previous owner so it will need a lot of breaking in. I am getting good accuracy with it at 10-20 yards resting the rise in the stock just under my chin. It has no recoil with my reloads really so think it will be a lot of fun for Cowboy shooting. By they way we are pretty loose on guns down here and I write the stages. I have taken it a part and applied some lithium grease here and there and the more I cycle it the smoother it gets. The only issue I am finding is when I load through the side gate it seems to bind up a bit on the third round. There seem to be no cycling issues though. I also find the lever safety spring is very tight are there any fixes for that? I hope with use it gets better or I get used to it.
The rifle is very simple to take down so I think if needed I will just stone the internals myself. I don’t plan to touch anything until I cycle it a bit. Nice gun though and I have drank the 1894 koolaid which is so sweet.
Any hiccups or things I should watch out for?
