Firing pin broke on my 992 round of mostly 38 special. Couldn't find any videos on how to replace so I dove right in. Got it apart and determined it was a broken firing pin. Called Henry to get a replacement and they said about 2 or 3 months ago they changed the policy and I have to send the rifle in to get it fixed. I asked about just sending bolt and they said they need gun so they can test fire it. I will ask for an extra firing pin. Someone needs to make a video on this, coming apart was easy but I am glad I don't have to figure out how it goes back together.

I can't decide if the BBS is my favorite rifle to shoot, its that or my CZ455 17HMR. I originally put a scope on it but that was just stupid. I typically shoot steel at 50 yards from a standing position and rapid fire at the 10 targets.

Putting a Big Boy back together is easy if you follow Henry's excellent assembly and disassembly videos. Check out the Henry website. It seems to me having to send in the gun for a firing pin change is a lawyer overkill but what can you do. it will be nice when someone starts making more aftermarket parts for Henry. I have two firing pins ready for my Marlins just in case.

I have never really looked at Henry's bolt design, but seeing that the basic rifle it's self is similar to a Marlin.
I just assume they would be similar also, I will look next time I pull one.
I have replaced a firing pin in a Marlin 336 and it was really not that Big of a deal, to me any way.
Myself I'd rather do it than trust it being shipped back and forth.

I would assume that THEY want to replace the firing pin because of liability and warranty issues...?

Maybe so Mark, but if it is similar to the Marlin's bolt assembly it's not that difficult.
Several U-tube videos about it. If "I" can do it, then most should be able.
I just don't have a lot of faith in the postal services offered today.

Good question Gunny. I know this is the first time I've heard of it on this forum, unless I missed it somewhere.

I did a search and saw a post on another forum saying they broke the pin. It was the only one I found. Apparently it happens but not common

Several years ago, I had to have one replaced on my H006M. The rifle was fairly new at the time, maybe a year or less, but I made weekly trips to the range. It was a quick turn around and I've had no issues since.

Best I recall, this is this first time I've heard about any broken firing pins in the Henry rifles.

I looked back and found a thread where it was discussed.

I mailed it off to Henry on Mar 31st. They were really good in notifying me they received it and when it was shipped back. Arrived today so its been less than 2 weeks. When I called them and told them i had the bolt apart they said to put the parts in a bag and not to bother putting it back in the rifle. Repair order says the replaced the bolt (it is a new one) adjusted lockup and test fired 5 rounds. Its interesting that they just didn't fix firing pin and reassemble bolt.
