1. My rifle is most accurate with a dirty barrel
2. After five shots the groups really start to open up as the barrel heats up so when sighting in your scope make sure your barrel cools off between groups so you don't chase your tail.

Most of the rifles I have owned required a few fouling shots before they shot well. I finish sighting in with a warm barrel (Not Hot). Got that way prairie dog hunting where hopefully the barrel stays warm. (targets too). I have been satisfied with my marksmanship so far with this method. And I'm too old to change now.

This rifle is a little picky about what it likes, the first group was shot with about 30 seconds between shots. Then I let it sit for a few minutes and did the same thing for succeeding 5 shot groups for a total of 25 rounds, the last group was the exact same load as the first and had opened up to 2.5 inches. My conclusion with this rifle is its a tack driver for the first few rounds and not really a range gun.

You can see from both of the targets the first four shots are about .5 inch and then the fifth opens it up to almost an inch

I like the accuracy. I had read an earlier review about weak ejection on a pre production model. How does your kick out the empties? The thing looks like it is a hammer for 3 shot groups. It looks like one is coming my way.

At first there were a few that wouldn't eject, the case would be laying on top of the next round in the magazine where I would turn the rifle to the right and dump it out. It has a plunger ejector like an ar so I lubed it and worked it in and out a bunch and after about 100 rounds it quit doing it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Already have 2 .308 lever guns but whats another? I am excited about these.American made and they look like they have improved on the BLRs downfalls ( pressed barrel and trigger issues).

I have around 300 rounds through mine and it has smoothed up nicely, trigger is better than the BLR for sure

I cannot find any mention of the distance ?

That's some good shooting. Are you shooting factory ammo, or handloads?

Most accurate load has been with varget powder, I haven't really tried a lot of factory loads. Later in October I will try some loads using a match bullet and see how it does, right now just getting it dialed in for hunting

I wish my Long Ranger would get here. I've been waiting since about May.

I was hoping someone would get a .223 to see if the barrel profile was the same as the .308.

Men, I received an email last night from Gunbroker about the Henry TV show on the Discovery Channel. Today 7 am to 8 am, I tuned in and Mr Anthony I had a Long Ranger and did say that it would be available with and without sights. I also found a video on the Henry Youtube channel and you can see the Long Ranger being shot and plenty of positive commentary.
