Went to a 100 yard range a week ago to sight in my new CZ527 scope and to fine tune the Skinner sight on the BBS 44. Got the little CZ running pretty near perfect and switched to the Henry. The peep sight that was working pretty good at 25 yards a month ago, I now was shooting 6 inch patterns at 50 yards all 6 inches high. I think it was all me. I get used to looking through a scope and then it takes quite a while to sort of relearn how to use the iron sights well. Screw it. This is a sweet shooting rifle and I want to hit what I am aiming at. Every other rifle I own has a scope on it and I am just too used to using them. I got the Henry mount and a nice little Weaver 1-3 x 20 scope. Mounted her up in a pair of Leupold low rings and went back to the range. After a few adjustments, I can punch big ole half inch holes in a 2" bull at 100 yards. I might see if I can re-engineer a Marlin one piece mount to lower it a little. Or not, right now it is sighted in perfectly for the factory load I intend to hunt deer with in a few months. I put the hammer extension on it too for safety. I tried uncocking it 10 times without out it and dropped the hammer once. That was once too many so it put it on.

Very nice-looking Weaver...and it looks great on your BBS! I have a Weaver 4.5V that I used on my .357 Bronze Big Boy. I really like the looks of the Weaver's straight lines, and also the ease of using it. To me you've made a good choice.

And great shooting, too. Will you post those targets alongside your rifle for us to enjoy?

The targets got tossed at the end of the day, lots of smaller holes in them from letting a friend play with my .223 CZ bolt gun. Next time.

A very appropriate scope in looks and function.

Sounds like you have it tuned in very nicely. Bad news for the deer!

I am getting older and I cant see iron sights like I used too

That set-up is sweet ,I have a lot of rifles and tend to only shoot the guns with glass on them as its less frustrating to see blurred lines and for me the aftermarket sights are better BUT I still cant see that well without glass ,sure it looks good without a scope but you need to shoot the rifles and enjoy the capabilities of the round
