I agree... maybe a new marketing angle ... but I think it is better to stick with the successful rifles they have at present. my 2 cents.

Can't blame Henry for wanting to diversify a bit to remain competitive. While I don't go for the X models, I am sure there are thousands that will. Henry is growing as a company, offering more and more models, side gates, finishes, etc etc. God bless em!

In terms of Lever Action market share, Henry has most of it, so not much room to expand upwards there. Means to grow they see a need to foray into the black gun market where they haven't had a presence before. Smart way to go about it with the models they're offering.

Here is a photo of mine. This one has an old Redfield peep sight I installed. The model 56 has a 30 degree lever throw. It's a short throw.

I see lots of online dealers listing these guns but all say “not in stock”. Historically, how long after a Henry announcement do the new guns show up at distributors? My Henry dealer guy said it might be six months. ;(

Also, I have been looking for actual hands-on reviews but so far, nothing. Has anybody seen an actual test or review of these new guns, not just press announcements? Does Henry send pre-release samples to reviewers like Gunblast? Ruger and other big brands sure do.... and the guns are often at dealers when the new models are officially announced.

I am selling my current ”bear gun” and want a replacement in time to take into Canada when the camping season opens in late Spring. I was hoping it would be a new X carbine....

They were only just announced to the dealers last Thursday the 16th. I got a pre shot show email. I see them now for sale on Gunbroker. Im sure you could buy one there if you wanted one before your dealer was to get one in. I did a little research and here is a short youtube look at the 45-70. First and only one Ive seen.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but Henry having more money to produce more good products helps everyone here.

Kudos for an american company doing well and selling to a market.

When the 41's came out a few years ago, I could find them on GB before either of my dealers could get one.

Ya know after seein one in the hands of ole plinkster I could see one as a truck gun if there was one in a 41 but thats the only way I would buy one.

Thanks so much for the video, I had not found that one. I haven’t seen an actual gun listed anywhere, yet, I do have saved Gunbroker searches for all the models so I will get an email when they start to appear.

In the video comments somebody mentioned a stainless version in this line, that would be cool but I don’t think Henry has every made a SS gun, but an AW X would be dandy.

Love the new sights they put on there and they would be great on the other Henrys too. I prefer wood and steel on a lever rifle.

Also noticed how Plinkster was getting rocked by those .45-70 rounds! He's not used to those big ol bullets!!

Hey All,

I'm interested and will look at them. My wish is that somebody do a lightweight side gate side eject Moutain rifle style lever action with weight 6lbs or less. Seeing synthetic stock I was hoping Henry would go light like an 1892 which is 6lbs but is top eject - how do you scope that? I've looked long an hard at 1892s but I have a hard time getting by the top eject. Now if Marlins weren't remlins...
