I can understand the eye thing.
I did shooting prescription glasses instead.

Rather put glass on me than a levergun.
It's an emotional thing.

I have to agree. I’m not a fan of scopes on lever guns. They have their place for some, but I figure if I’m shooting far enough to need a scope, I need a “longer” caliber than I have in any of my levers, except my model 94, but it’s 108 years old, and not ever going to be anything but original.

Pretty much the way I have always ruled out scope use on my levers also.
With regard to model 94s mine are all original and that rules out any convenient mounting systems (including the 'offset' style) but in my opinion still not necessary on a 30-30. And like you one of my Winchesters is 100 + years old however I am considering a tang sight for it.

compared to some mentioned in this thread, our 78 year old Model 94 30-30 is fresh off of the assembly line ..

.. saying right up front I firmly believe that folks ought to use whatever type of sights they feel gives them the best chance of making a clean kill, cutting an X-ring or ringing a gong .... as others have mentioned, we try to match our firearms and their sights to the task we want them to perform .... hunting in thick brush where 30 yards would be a long shot and from a tower stand over looking a large field are two very different things .... as are firing at a bullseye from 25 yards and one that is 100 yards .... historically, our hunting usually involves tracks of lands where both types can be found .... for short ranges I prefer open buckhorn sights on rifles and red dots on revolvers .... for everything else, I prefer a scope on a rifle .... I don't foresee ever mounting a scope on our Model 94 because I don't have any plan to use it under circumstances where one is needed .... with our Henry 357, 44, and 45-70; as well as, our BLR 308 I don't foresee using them without a scope

Nice shooting. I wouldn't touch those sights and I definitely would not scope that rifle. But that's just me. It shows you know how to shoot.

Friend that kind of shooting would earn you a Rifle Expert badge at US Marine Corps bootcamp. Congratulations, congratulations indeed. I've been anxiously waiting to get my 357 All Weather back out to the range. Now I'm nearly desperate. Great shooting deano!
