Brass vs CCH 45-70

i own both. There is no noticeable weight difference between the two.

The biggest difference, other than the finish / receiver alloy, is the stock. The brass version has a smooth, uncheckered stock with the old-style cowboy rifle grip. The case hardened version has a nicely checkered stock with a grip better suited for hunting.

I consider the brass version to be designed as "historical," whereas the case hardened version is a hunting rifle.

Oh, and as others have pointed out, the brass version has a brass buttplate, whereas the case-hardened version has a built-on padded buttplate.

Henry specs show them both (CCH and Brass) at 8.10 lbs.
